will be held from August 19th to September 5th spread over 3 weekends, due to the still prevailing pandemic situation, considering the safety of everyone. The theme of KASHISH 2021 is , representing the festival's mission to unlock geographical & racial barriers, and encourage love & acceptance of + individuals, and thereby unlock a new normal of hope for every

one. KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is the first LGBTQ film festival in India to be held in a mainstream theater and the first queer festival in India to receive clearance from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. KASHISH was voted as one of the top 5 coolest LGBT film festivals in the world by a worldwide poll conducted by MovieMaker Magazine in 2013. Over the previous 11 editions, the festival has grown from strength to strength, attracting close to 9000 footfalls over the 4 1/2 days of the festival at two venues. The festival has screened every year 110 to 180 films from 28 - 44 countries. These films include shorts, documentaries, features - all centered around LGBTQ themes. The festival attracts close to 30% non-LGBT audience, film & media celebrities, and intentional guests. Festival Director:

Led by internationally acclaimed Kathak and Lavani exponent Aditi Bhagwat, this captivating performance pays tribute to the beauty, energy, and expressive power of Lavani. Aditi has enthralled audiences across the world and collaborated with artists from diverse musical and dance traditions, bringing a unique depth and dynamism to her work.

Joining her are accomplished performers Smita and Sujata, both trained in Kathak and Lavani. Smita has represented India internationally through her Lavani performances, while Sujata has been part of several celebrated stage productions and is a respected dance educator.

Together, they bring Lavani Ka Najrana to life through spirited movement, storytelling, and the timeless artistry of one of Maharashtra’s most beloved dance traditions.
