BCPT is happy to announce that it's new YouTube channel for learning English has been made public. This contains improved version of 871 videos produced by the Bombay Community Public Trust. This interactive animated audio visual content is best suited for improving English language skills in children up to fifth standard.

My sincere thanks to Dr. Mala Pandurang, principal of Dr. BMN College of Home Science affiliated to SNDT Women’s University, Ms.Rikisha Maniyath who coordinated the work and students who participated in the project of refurbishing the videos.

I am sure that both the teachers and the young learners will find this content to be very interesting and useful. Please use the following link to view the videos.

Many parts of rural India are still without electricity for several hours a day. Having a sufficiently illuminated place to study is a basic minimum requirement of school going children. The Bombay Community Public Trust helped school-going children of Apta village on April 11 by providing 200 students with solar lamps so that they could study after sunset. The lamps run on solar batteries. The children are thus motivated to study, while they get a message that it is important to save the environment even when we use electric lamps.

Martin Luther King (jr.) said, “The most pertinent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” We are happy to report that this year 36 students from V.K.Krishna Menon College affiliated to Mumbai University registered as volunteers under the BCPT English E Teach (EET) Volunteering programme. They taught English to 1600 children from 7 Marathi/ Hindi medium primary schools. Both the volunteer teachers and the primary school students gained from this programme which involved teaching 30 hours of English, using the EET digital content. The students were given a pre test before the volunteers started teaching. The students appeared for a post test after the thirty teaching sessions were completed. Results of paired t test indicate that there is a significant and a large difference in marks obtained by the students of standard one to four in the pre and post test. Hearty congratulations dear volunteers! Your work was very useful! Special thanks to the chairman of Bhandup Education Society, Dr. Sharada Menon; principal of V K Krishna Menon College, Dr. Phadnis; and all the teachers in charge of lifelong learning whose enthusiasm and encouragement have no parallel.
