Make a difference with ActionAid Ireland!

Are you passionate about human rights and making the world a safer, fairer place for women and children? We’re looking for three to four caring and committed volunteers to help review handwritten letters and drawings from sponsored children.

Through this volunteer opportunity, you will:

Ensure children’s voices are protected

Support our child sponsorship programme

Gain meaningful experience with a global organisation

The role will be based in our Dublin 2 office every Tuesday in July & early August
You will receive €10 lunch and €5 travel allowance per day.

“We just want to live with dignity like everyone else in this world.”

Samia, a volunteer with the Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering (RDFL), a partner of ActionAid Arab Region in Lebanon, speaks about the difficult circumstances people are living in as they are deprived of their rights to the most basic necessities.

We’re in a fuel price crisis. But the real emergency still isn’t being addressed.
Yes, the €505 million support package will bring some short-term relief.

People need that. Costs of transport, energy and housing are rising everywhere.

But let’s be honest: this is a quick fix, not a real solution.

The deeper problem? Our dependence on fossil fuels. Prices we can’t control. Profits soaring for oil and gas companies while people struggle to get by.

And all the while, the climate crisis is intensifying.

At the upcoming Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta leaders will meet to discuss not if we move away from fossil fuels but how. Ireland will be in that room.

So the question is: will we lead?

That means backing climate finance, a just transition, debt cancellation, and a global fossil fuel treaty.

And at home, it means accelerating renewables not slowing them down.
People are ready. Demand is there.
Now it’s time for the government to catch-up.
