"πŸ’™ A huge congratulations and heartfelt thank you to Rory Griffin, his family, and friends, who recently completed the inspirational 'Walk for Aimee' in memory of a much-loved daughter, sister, family member and friend.

On 23 May, the group took on the challenging Sliabh Liag 13km walk to celebrate Aimee's life and legacy, while raising vital funds for the Asthma Society of Ireland and North West STOP.

What makes this fundraiser so special is the love, strength and compassion behind it. By choosing to honour Aimee's memory in this way, Rory and everyone involved have helped raise awareness, support important causes, and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

We are incredibly grateful to Aimee's family and friends for allowing us to be part of this meaningful tribute.

πŸ’™ Thank you for walking in Aimee's memory. Thank you for helping others. And thank you for showing the power of community, kindness and remembrance.

If you would still like to support the Walk for Aimee, donations can be made here: https://bit.ly/49h3W92

Last Thursday, we were in Leinster House to meet with Eli Byrne, Administrative Assistant to Fine Gael Minister Neale Richmond, to discuss how we can improve asthma care for young people across Ireland.

We were delighted to introduce the work of the Asthma Society of Ireland and outline our proposal to subsidise MART (Maintenance and Reliever Therapy) combination inhalers for 12–17-year-olds.

MART is the gold standard in asthma treatment, simplifying asthma management by combining maintenance and reliever medication in a single inhaler. This can improve adherence, reduce the risk of asthma attacks, and help young people achieve better asthma control.

At the Asthma Society, we're calling for wider access to MART so that everyone who could benefit from this evidence-based treatment can do so, regardless of cost.

🚭 We have made a submission to the European Commission’s public consultation on the future of EU to***co and to***co advertising rules.

Smoking, va**ng, and exposure to second-hand smoke can worsen asthma symptoms, trigger asthma attacks, and have lasting impacts on lung health. As the EU reviews its to***co control legislation, it is important that the voices of people living with asthma are heard.

The consultation is now open, and we encourage people with asthma, parents, carers, and healthcare professionals to have their say.

Your experience can help shape stronger protections for respiratory health across Europe.

Thank you to Fianna FΓ‘il TD Martin Daly for meeting with us today to discuss the importance of MART (Maintenance and Reliever Therapy) combination inhalers.

MART is the gold standard in asthma care, simplifying treatment and helping people manage their asthma more effectively. This is especially important for young people, who can face challenges with treatment adherence and are at greater risk of poor asthma control when treatment plans are complex.

At the Asthma Society of Ireland, we're working to ensure that everyone who could benefit from MART can access it.

No parent should have to endure the loss of a child.

Our hearts go out to the family of 12-year-old Cory, whose story is a devastating reminder of the impact asthma can have on families and communities.

In honour of Cory’s memory, his aunt Christine and uncle Mark will take part in the 2026 Waterford Viking Marathon, raising awareness and supporting the Asthma Society of Ireland so that other families affected by asthma can access the information, support and advocacy they need.

We are deeply grateful to Christine and Mark for their courage, generosity and determination to create something positive in Cory’s memory.

We remember Cory and stand with his family and everyone affected by asthma.
