The repairs 🪚to the second of Joy Mead’s iconic curved oak benches have been completed ✅!

As you will see the repairs on the second bench ended up being more extensive than initially expected 🙁. An absolutely huge thank you 👏🏻to Tony and Peter for all their time and skill in repairing these beautiful benches. We are incredibly grateful for your invaluable support and labour of love ❤️ in maintaining these gorgeous pieces of history.

The benches are ready for the 2026 summer 😎 season, and are waiting to be taken from the shelter of the Temple to their designated places at the Joy Mead Spring tidy up 🧹 tomorrow Sunday 19th April at 10am.

We can’t wait to see them in all their glory in the open!

They say that “many hands make light work” , if you can come and lend a hand even for a short time we’d be most grateful 🙏🏻

Spring is definitely in the air and Joy Mead is showing all of the signs of spring! Hooray for longer days!

Our social media sprite had a lovely time meeting a potential private hirer this afternoon at a site visit. It’s always exciting to hear about people’s celebrations and it’s wonderful when they choose Joy Mead to be a part of their plans.

Yes you read that correctly you can hire Joy Mead for events and family celebrations. This is an essential way to fundraise, to ensure that Joy Mead is maintained and kept open for all the community now and for future generations.

Spring 🌸 has arrived! We hope you are all enjoying the lighter days and increase in sunshine and temperature ☀️

It’s time for Joy Mead’s spring tidy up 🧹 which will be on Sunday 19th April 10-12. Please come a lend a hand to get Joy Mead ready for the summer.

Not only does it help the Charity trust maintain this special place, it’s a great opportunity to spend time with others who love Joy Mead as much as we do!

Refreshments are provided for all volunteers (and possibly even cake or biscuits too!), so do please let us know if you’re planning on joining us.

We have been informed that there is an individual going around the Farthingstone, selling olive trees from a van for around £200 each, claiming that they are props from filming at the Joy Mead.

Joy Mead has not been hired for any filming activity, and therefore this detail is false. They have no connection with Joy Mead or the Joy Mead Charity Trust.

Please beware wary of anyone knocking at your door selling items, and have careful consideration before parting with any money.

This will be posted in all local village groups for information.

The second curved oak bench repairs are well underway.

It’s turned out to be a bigger job than expected, as you can see how much of it’s been repaired so far. The process has really shown the craftsmanship of the original makers of the benches, skills that sadly are being lost to the passage of time.

A huge thanks to Peter and Tony for all hours and skilled work to they have done so fair in repairing these iconic Joy Mead benches.
