As we come to the end of The Great Big Green Week it was good to visit the new Towcester Community Garden for their Open Day.

What a transformation! The volunteers have worked really hard on improving the site and making it a productive and attractive garden.

Sue, Carol and Sue went along to the People’s Emergency Briefing tonight organised by CA-WN.

The film was very powerful with excellent speakers warning us of the imminent dangers of climate change but also the solutions if we took action now.

CA-WN are encouraging us to write to our MPs to ask if the film can be broadcast on television. The message needs to be heard by everyone of every generation before it is too late.

Thanks go to CA-WN for organising such an important and informative event.

We also provided refreshments for the members of the public who attended.

We had a very interesting talk at our meeting yesterday which featured music as well as the story of a kingfisher seen at the River Nene.

Our screening is on Friday 7pm at Sawpits Centre. Please come along as we enter this year’s The Great Big Green Week.

This month something powerful is happening in communities across the UK 🇬🇧

More than 100 screenings (National Emergency Briefing) are taking place during (6–14 June) - bringing people together in village halls, community centres and local cinemas to hear from leading experts about climate and nature, and to discuss how to respond together.

As one attendee put it: "the spirit in the hall was one of grounded optimism."

That's exactly what Great Big Green Week is about too - communities coming together, having honest conversations, and finding hope and purpose in collective action. Because when people come together like this, something shifts. That's what looks like in practice.
