This week is all about celebrating the wonderful service provided by community transport organisations around the country. Our service cannot survive without more volunteer drivers. Please help if you can or share with others who may have some spare time.

TADD provides a crucial medically related transport service to many vulnerable people in our communities, but our ability to meet demand is under threat. Due to a shortage of volunteer drivers, we have a waiting list of over 200 and we have been unable to take on new members for over 18 months. As winter approaches we are already starting to struggle providing transport for our current members to their appointments.

Elderly and disabled people in our community who are unable to access public transport rely on TADD for transport to their medical and wellbeing appointments. Can you offer some of your spare time to volunteer as a driver?

Allocation of journeys is tailored to your availability on a weekly basis, mileage is paid by the passenger and insurance premiums are not affected.

Could you volunteer as a driver to help reduce our waiting list?

TADD provides a crucial medically related transport service to many vulnerable people in our communities, but our ability to meet demand is under threat. Temporary Office Closure
Due to annual leave our office will be closed from midday on Friday 28th July and will reopen on Tuesday 15th August at 9.00am.
All advance appointments during this period have been allocated to the voluntary drivers who are available during this period, and they will confirm that the journey is still required with the passenger the day before.
Regrettably, we will be unable to respond to requests for last minute appointments during the closure.
The office will be back operating as normal on Tuesday 15th August 2023 from 9.00am.

Towcester Area Door to Door service in the new financial year 2023-24

TADD trustees are pleased to confirm that, after many delays, grant funding is now in place for the next financial year. This means we can continue, subject as ever to the availability of voluntary drivers, to transport our existing 750 members to and from their medically related appointments.
Formal renewal letters will be delivered to all members during April 2023.
Thanks to the time and commitment offered by over 100 voluntary drivers and office volunteers, TADD has been able to meet demand for transport over the last year. Unfortunately, however we now have over 130 elderly and vulnerable residents who are waiting to join TADD.
Recruiting new voluntary drivers is increasingly difficult and until there is improved capacity, it is unlikely the waiting list will be significantly reduced.

The team at TADD would like to wish all our members and volunteers our best wishes for the festive season. A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteer drivers who have given their time throughout 2022 ensuring that the elderly and vulnerable in our communities access their healthcare and wellness appointments. Our community transport service is a crucial element in helping people remain independent in their own homes. We always need additional volunteer drivers so please do get in touch if you are interested.
