🎉For the sixth year in a row, The Brooklands pub in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, hosted its free music extravaganza, raising money for Shropshire Mental Health Support over the weekend of 1st – 2nd August. The new landlords wanted to make this event bigger, so they gave a percentage of all food and drinks purchased over the weekend, which increased the amount donated from £180 in 2025 to £806 in 2026.

💜The event was a great success and was opened by the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Bernie Bentick. Robbie Jones, organiser of the event and a talented musician who also played at Brookfest alongside his team, Chris Smout and Georgia Salvoni, brought together 17 amazing acts over two days.

✨Clive Ireland, Chair of Shropshire Mental Health Support, said, “We are grateful to Mark, Ryan and Robbie for inviting us to be part of Brookfest, not only raising money but also raising awareness of mental health challenges and the support we can offer. It was such an amazing weekend full of great talent and lots of fun for the whole family, and we hope we can join them next year.”

💛We are hosting a service to remember and reflect on those who have died by su***de. The event coincides with World Su***de Prevention Day, held on Thursday 10 September.

💜The theme for this year is ‘changing the narrative on su***de’. It’s about moving from a culture of silence towards one of understanding and support.

⛪The service will take place on Thursday 10 September at 14:30 in The Abbey. The service will be about 30 mins; tea and coffee will be available afterwards for those who want to stay. The service is open to all faiths and none; everyone is welcome.

💚The charity hopes the service highlights the work we do around su***de prevention. Last year the charity prevented around 700 su***des via their services, including a 24-hour phone line and overnight support via the Shropshire Sanctuary.

💛Heather Ireland, CEO of Shropshire Mental Health Support, said “Part of the work we do in the charity is to support those bereaved by su***de or unexplained death. We support families, friends and colleagues impacted by a su***de, and we wanted to use World Su***de Prevention Day to host a service to pay tribute to those who have died by su***de, providing a space for them to reflect and find connection.”

📢It's that time again for 'First Friday Fiver '. We are asking you to donate £5 to help us deliver support to people in Shropshire who are living with mental health challenges. At the heart of Shropshire Mental Health Support charity is a simple belief: no one should have to navigate their mental health struggles alone, and we need your help to do this!

Did you know…
💜 A £5 donation could pay for tea and coffee for one evening at one of our Calmer Cafes. This weekday evening service is dedicated to providing a supportive and welcoming space for individuals navigating mental health challenges. Our sessions offer a warm and safe environment, and each session is limited to a maximum of four to six participants to ensure a comfortable and engaging experience.
💚We run Calmer Cafes in 7 different locations around Shropshire every week, so we get through lots of tea, coffee and biscuits!

⏩We recognise that some people aren't in a position to donate, so liking this post, commenting on it, sharing it or saving it is like donating money to the charity and helps us to reach more people.
