What girls know about their bodies can shape the course of their futures. As we commemorate World Menstrual Health Day, Prisca’s story reminds us why access to menstrual health education and safe spaces for girls matters.
Prisca (left), a Grade 11 pupil found confidence and support after joining a girls’ club at her school. Before joining, she struggled with menstrual health and lacked proper information. Through the club, she learned healthy hygiene practices, gained knowledge on sexual health and HIV prevention, and became more confident in herself and her future.
Today, Prisca dreams of becoming a nurse and encourages other girls to join similar spaces of learning and support. “Join the clubs. You’ll learn to set goals, stay busy, and keep away from bad practices. If others can make it, I can too, and so can you” she says.
