We had a lovely day on Tuesday 21st April 2026, when a group of us— HAJMT trustees, helpers and friends— attended the British Empire Medal investiture at the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery. Sally was to receive the award for services to Defibrillator Provision in Shropshire.

It was truly special event from the start. The Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner JP, presented the medals, saying a few words about how proud everyone should be, setting the tone for the ceremony.

Mrs Claire Brentnall, DL, introduced Sally with a citation speaking about how HAJMT began and what has been achieved since — it was a touch that made the moment feel even more meaningful.

Åsa Thompson, Marisa Harrison, Claire Marsh, Susannah Hall and Anna Angell-James joined Sally, getting into the true spirit of the occasion by wearing a fabulous array of dresses and hats!

We heard about the other eight BEM recipients and their inspiring stories, making us realise what a fabulous group of people were in the room and how proud we were to live in Shropshire.

Following the ceremony, we enjoyed a delicious tea, accompanied by a glass of prosecco, which provided the perfect conclusion to such an uplifting event.

The Central EDGBASTON bowling Club is the site of our latest donation.

The Chairman, Joel, realised the importance of having a defibrillator and applied. The Club is in the heart of EDGBASTON and situated close to University buildings. It was an obvious choice for the HAJMT.

The club is steeped in history wonderful having entertained wounded soldiers from WW1 on a regular basis.

Sally had a wonderful time meeting members and watch them play bowls. They are terrific!

Sally is pictured here with Imam Yousef from the Jamia Anwarul Quran Education Centre in Stourbridge, Worcestershire.

The Education Centre recently had a course on CPR and the use of defibrillation from the West Midlands Ambulance Service and so understand the importance of having an AED in close proximity of their active community.

The Center applied to the HAJMT for an award and were extremely thankful to receive one.

Our latest donation is in Goldiesie Close in Sutton Coldfield.

We had a lovely morning with some of them and hearing their stories. The whole community and some of the houses in neighbouring streets all contributed to the cost of the installation so it was a total team effort.

They were made aware of our work through a training session from and realised the importance of having such a life saving device close by.

If your community would like to be considered for an award please contact us via our website.

We had a fantastic session last night on the use of CPR and defibrillation with Uppington village taken by Russell Brookes, a Newport Community First Responder, at Wroxeter Cricket Club. We also raised some funds as well. Every penny counts for a small charity such as ours.

Never underestimate knowing how to do basic CPR and the use of a defibrillator could help save a life, especially of someone you love.

Please contact the HAJMT if you wish to apply for a defibrillator for your community or are interested in a training session.
