Together Tuesday

There’s something special about a community coming together to look after one another.

This winter, you can be part of that by bringing people together in aid of the Ark. A coffee morning with neighbours, a quiz with friends, a bake sale at work or a festive get-together. Make it something you’ll enjoy.

Every fundraiser helps us offer warmth, hot meals, practical support and a welcoming community to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their home.

Watch our video and help spread the Ark’s Winter Embrace. Invite a few people, share an idea and see what you can make happen together.

Not knowing where you will sleep or who can help can be overwhelming.

This Stress Awareness Week, we are sharing a practical way to help someone sleeping rough.

If you are concerned about an adult you have seen sleeping rough, you can send an alert through StreetLink. It passes the details to local outreach teams, who can try to find the person and offer support.

Your alert could help someone connect with the support they need.

If someone is in immediate danger or needs urgent medical help, call 999.

Thank You Thursday

A big thank you to everyone at Bojangles Nursery and Preschool for collecting two big boxes of food and toiletries for the Ark.

Thank you to the children, parents and staff who contributed, and to Victoria for organising the collection and getting it to us.

These donations help us provide meals and everyday essentials for people experiencing homelessness and hardship. We really appreciate your support.

Helen has another skill to add to her list: hair braiding.

On the International Day of Care and Support, these photos capture a small but personal part of life at the Ark.

Having a choice about how you look matters. So does having the time, space and support to look after yourself.

Care means paying attention to what matters to each person, including the things that help them feel more like themselves.

Thank you for helping make moments like this possible.

“I’ve not spoken about myself this much in 60 years.”

That is what one of the people we support said to Chris after taking part in our mental health and neurodiversity programme.

October is ADHD Awareness Month. At the Ark, we take time to listen, understand someone’s experiences and work out what support makes sense for them.

Being heard and understood matters, whatever your age.

**Halloween fun in Telford, supporting Shrewsbury Ark!**

A big thank you to everyone organising the Halloween Trail around Telford Estate and for choosing to support the Ark.

Running from 24th October to 1st November, the trail is a great way to get the family outdoors during half term, with hidden letters to find, a spooky word to solve and a prize for every entry.

It's just £3 to take part, with all proceeds coming to Shrewsbury Ark to help us support people experiencing homelessness and those facing difficult times.

If you're in the area, why not give it a go? Fancy dress is welcome too!

Full details are in the attached poster.

Thank you to everyone involved for thinking of us.

Feel Good Friday 🍽️

Something a little different has been cooking at the Ark!
As part of her tenancy readiness programme, Helen likes to mix in some cooking skills and this time, pheasant was on the menu!

Our clients got stuck into preparing and cooking it together, trying something different and building confidence in the kitchen.

Being able to cook a meal is a useful part of looking after a home of your own. It’s also a lovely reason to get together, have a chat and enjoy what you’ve made.

A big thank you to Helen and everyone who took part! ❤️
