Andy and Dan are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge this summer to raise vital funds for our care.

We are currently caring for their dad after he was referred to us following a cancer diagnosis.

"Unfortunately our beloved old man has cancer. He’s had a tough year so far, but his incredible strength and resilience has shone through and being the absolute trooper that he is, he’s giving it the good fight. Severn Hospice in Telford have supported dad in such a beautiful and loving way. We really do appreciate the level of kindness and support he’s had throughout, along with the exceptional facility services they provide."

We are so grateful to Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry for inviting us and giving Deb the opportunity to talk about the care and support we provide to those living with incurable illness in our local community.

Pop along between 10am-3pm - Deb would love to meet you.

June is a time to slow down, reflect, and spend time with the people who matter most.

Every day, Severn Hospice is there for families through life’s most difficult moments - on our wards or in the comfort of patients’ own homes.

Last year, our community nurses spent more than 12,840 hours caring for patients at home - that’s 535 days of compassionate care.

Gifts in wills help make this possible, ensuring we can continue supporting families now and in the future.

Recognise any of these friendly faces? 🥰 We celebrated some of our incredible long-serving volunteers with special 'thank you' afternoon tea events at our Bicton and Apley sites last week.

More than 120 volunteers were recognised, marking milestones from 5 to an amazing 30 years of service. Together, they hold a remarkable 1,040+ years of dedication to Severn Hospice.

Our Volunteer Manager, Kim Turnbridge, shared:
"This was a special opportunity to recognise the generosity of spirit our volunteers show every day… we simply couldn’t do what we do without them.”

Today, 1,107 volunteers support Severn Hospice - and this year alone, 138 new volunteers have joined our team. Thinking about giving back? We’re always looking for more amazing people to support us 🙏

Inspired by BBC Radio 2's Sara Cox, Anna has decided to attempt to run seven marathons in seven days to celebrate turning 47.

Although none of the marathons are official marathons, you may well see her running around Shrewsbury using her Garmin watch to measure the distance!!!

She is running to raise money for three charities close to her heart - us, Lingen Davies Cancer Support, and The Harry Johnson Trust. "All three charities do so much good for the local area and support a huge part of the community.

"I used to run but fell out of love with it. Two years ago I started Couch to 5k, but gave up because I really didn’t enjoy running. However, I love raising money for charities but am a firm believer that if you’re going to ask someone to sponsor you it has to be because you’re doing something dreadful. This was the worst thing I could think of!!!

"However, that is nothing compared to what the people the charities support are going through, and they are the people who matter the most. I have a close link with each of the charities and think all of the charities give so much to the community."

Good luck Anna, thank you.

Sharon from our Community Services team is a super baker and has been raising money by selling her wonderful cakes to help raise funds towards her Snowdon at Night Challenge.

She knows exactly what our care means - not only is she a community nurse but her friend Paula was cared for by us and we supported her family and friends with our services.

"I how much a difference it can make to patients and families in their own home."

Thanks Sharon and good luck with your challenge.

And there will also be a chance to win £100 gardening voucher and tombola prizes.

Doors open at 9am and the sale goes on until 5pm but be quick, last year's event was a sell out.

We had the privilege of caring for Sam's husband at our hospice in Apley two years ago.

Since Robbo sadly passed away, she has organsied fundraisers for us - the latest being a ball in his name.

And thanks to the generosity of everyone who danced the night away, she raised more than £14,000 for our care and she popped in to the hospice to give us her donation.

Thank you Sam - your kindness helps us to be there for so many local people facing heartbreak.

Our Severn Circle is made up of regular donors who help us be there for patients when it matters most.

Their support helps us provide vital care and create meaningful moments for our patients — like our coffee mornings, where patients and those new to our services can meet others, learn more about how we can help, and chat with our nurses over coffee and cake.

By setting up a regular donation, you could become part of our Severn Circle – and over the course of a year, a monthly gift of £15 could fund one of our coffee mornings.
