Zac’s Fund is opening for applications! 💛

Zac’s Fund provides financial support to children and young people aged 21 and under who have received a cancer diagnosis, helping to ease some of the pressures that come with treatment and recovery.

Grants of approximately £500 to £5,000 are available to help cover a range of needs, including:

🌟 Treatment costs not otherwise available free of charge�
🌟 Travel expenses and respite care
�🌟 Educational catch-up support�
🌟 Special outings, experiences and gifts�
🌟 End-of-life palliative care

Applications are welcome from eligible individuals, families and organisations supporting young people undergoing cancer treatment.

We know that support can mean so much more than financial assistance. Whether it's helping with essential expenses or creating precious memories together, Zac’s Fund aims to make a meaningful difference when it matters most.

Sometimes, all it takes is someone who believes in you.

This Youth Work Week, we're celebrating the people who make a real difference to young people's lives, whether that's offering a listening ear, helping them build confidence or simply giving them a safe space to be themselves.

Across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, there are some fantastic organisations doing just that.

At Shropshire Community Foundation, we're proud to support projects that give young people opportunities, encouragement and the support they need to thrive.

⚽ 10 grants. 10 opportunities to make a difference.�

We’re delighted to share a new funding opportunity celebrating the legacy of Dalian Atkinson (DALF) and his iconic Aston Villa number 10 shirt.

Open for applicants, the programme will award 10 grants of £1,000 to £3,000 to community organisations helping more children and young people aged 5 to 25 get involved in sport.

With a particular focus on grassroots football, the fund will also support other sporting activities that bring young people together, build confidence and create opportunities for those who might otherwise miss out.

Funding will support projects that:
* Make football and other sports more accessible by removing financial and practical barriers.
* Create inclusive opportunities for young people from all backgrounds and abilities.
* Support wellbeing, confidence, teamwork and positive social connections.
* Encourage young people to develop leadership skills and reach their potential.

We're looking forward to seeing the fantastic projects this funding will help bring to life.

Another brilliant Shropshire business choosing to give back locally.

Shuker Group Building & Development is already a fantastic supporter of our local community, and now they’re taking that commitment a step further by joining our Shropshire Investors in Community (SIIC) network.

We’re delighted to share some brilliant news for communities across Telford & Wrekin Council . 13 local organisations have been awarded funding through the Telford & Wrekin Community Capital Grants Scheme, helping them make important improvements to the spaces and facilities that local people rely on.

Our work is dedicated to supporting communities across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. We see first-hand the vital role that local charities, voluntary groups and community organisations play in everyday life. From village halls and youth clubs to community centres and theatres, these are the places that bring people together, create opportunities and make our communities stronger.

Grants are an important part of what we do at Shropshire Community Foundation, but behind every grant is a much bigger picture.

We connect people who want to give with local organisations that need support. We bring businesses, donors and communities together. We help create opportunities that go beyond funding. And we’re building endowment funds that can support Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin for generations to come.

Sometimes, those connections can lead to something really special - like helping 16-year-old Issy, supported through Zac’s Fund, get closer to her dream of becoming a Formula One engineer. 🏎️

Celebrating DENSO and JCE with a SIIC Silver Award 🥈

We’re delighted to have presented DENSO Automotive UK Ltd and JCE & SONS with a SIIC Silver Award, recognising their continued commitment to supporting communities across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

A brilliant example of that commitment is the 2025 DENSO JCE Grant, created by the two businesses and managed by Shropshire Community Foundation.

The fund is supporting grassroots organisations working with 16–25-year-olds who are care leavers, home educated or living in areas of high deprivation, with projects focused on creativity, skills, mentoring and pathways into education, training or employment.

With funded projects now getting underway, we’re looking forward to seeing the opportunities this partnership creates for young people across our communities.

Beneficiary spotlight: Shropshire Rural Support 🚜

Creating space to talk, connect and spend time with those who understand the realities of rural life.

With funding from McPhillips Wellington Limited, in partnership with Shropshire Community Foundation, Shropshire Rural Support is launching its first Farmers’ Pitstop - a men-only event bringing farmers together in an informal and welcoming setting (ladies-only event coming soon!)

It’s an opportunity to step away from the farm, have a chat, share some pizza and get to know the local farming community.

We’re really pleased to see this funding being put into action and supporting an initiative designed specifically around the needs of people living and working in rural Shropshire.

A Taste of Asia is coming to Shrewsbury!

On Sunday 18th October, Councillor Bernie Bentick, Mayor of Shrewsbury, will be hosting a celebration of Asian food and culture, bringing together local restaurants and food businesses to raise funds for four fantastic local charities.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of flavours from across Asia, including Thai, Vietnamese, Nepalese, Indian, Sri Lankan and Turkish cuisine, alongside drinks from local suppliers.
