KINCA Needs You 🙏💙
Please read through these slides for an update on our current position ➡️
A little more about what we do ⬇️
Some of our activities we have initiated, and you may already know include;
🚮 Clean Kelham- our monthly community litter pick, supported by 150 lovely volunteers last year, collected over 290 bags of rubbish and got time to enjoy a coffee and meet new people. In addition we regularly do boring stuff like report overfilled bins, fly-tipping, blocked drains etc and try to keep AMEY on their toes. Local businesses help and support us too. Regular liaison with Riverlution by RSC and the Environment Agency support annual River Don and Goit cleanups. Our most recent project to address anti-social behaviour, colourful bin wraps, have been very successful.
🌱 Green Kelham - we have successfully applied for funds to provide some desperately needed ‘green’ spaces for our urban neighbourhood, with Naomis Corner, Ball Street Bridge seating and now have a rota of around 30 volunteers who regularly haul buckets of water from the Don to keep the plants happy and healthy during the dry spells.
🐝 Community bee hives (which produced 50 jars of the amber gold last year) and 19 new tree planted across the area.
🎄Kelham Christmas Our community Christmas Trees and annual Carol service with mulled wine and mince pies has become a popular event with over 120 people last year for our festive singalong.
We could go on - supporting local businesses through Love Kelham; our fab Kelham and Neepsend maps; The Islander community newsletter; establishing and developing Kelham Pride.
