🌊Fleming by the Sea🌊

The summer activities have been in full swing at YWCA Yorkshire and our Rotherham Project certainly made the most of it☀️

Every year, Fleming Gardens hosts Fleming by the Sea to bring together the families we support in the local area⛵

The day was jam-packed with activities, obligatory chips and, of course, ice cream 🍟🍦A perfect day that provided families and staff the opportunity to create lasting memories together💜

It was a privilege to see our Future Forwards work displayed as a case study at the Tate Modern as part of Homewards (The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales) three-year celebration exhibition!

It was incredible to have the team from Hart Shaw join us to volunteer their time, skills, and enthusiasm 💪🌱

They did a fantastic job of transforming our driveway and garden at Peile House, creating a welcoming and enjoyable outdoor space for residents🏡

Nothing beats a day by the sea🌊

Green Gables recently enjoyed a fun-filled trip to Cleethorpes and spent the day exploring, relaxing and making treasured memories together!

Days like these that remind us how important connection, confidence and community really are💜💚

The trip successfully promoted family wellbeing and reduced social isolation in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment ☀️

Our Peile House Project Manager, Claire Harding, spoke with Xanthe Palmer about our recent nine-month pilot, Future Forward, and how we removed barriers to employment for young people living in supported housing💜

The results are in🎉

YWCA Yorkshire successfully led on a nine month pilot known as Future Forward that directly supported 24 people aged 16-25 out of financial hardship and into the workplace.

Partnering with The Guinness Partnership's Sheffield Foyer and working alongside a The University of Sheffield undergraduate researcher, Future Forward broke down barriers to employment by removing the risk of losing housing benefits and wrap around support. This was made possible with grant funding awarded by Opportunity Sheffield and Homewards Fund.

The results of the Future Forward scheme demonstrated just how closely employment outcomes are linked to the way financial support operates within supported housing📊

We hope that gathering this evidence will result in long term policy change that recognises the social and economic benefits that come when young people are empowered out of unemployment and into a brighter future💜

Sam Cresswell successfully raised an impressive £574 for YWCA Yorkshire by completing the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run Half Marathon🏃‍♂️
