YWCA Yorkshire We are a charity that provides housing and wrap around support for young women, children and families in South Yorkshire.

We believe that all young women have the right to live in a safe space, to be heard and to be given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Young women experience the world differently to young men, and they face unique challenges that require understanding and sensitivity. Our charity focuses on providing emergency accommodation across Yorkshire to young women in need of support, These include those who have suffered from domestic abuse, are care leavers and young parents. We own or manage 54 supported properties throughout South Yorkshire, including in Sheffield, Rotherham, Mexborough and Doncaster, with exciting plans to expand in the near future.

Help support a local family this year with our Christmas Appeal 2026🎄…

This Christmas, there are three ways you can make a big difference to our women, children and families across South Yorkshire 💜:

1. Donate✨

Every donation brings hope and dignity to the people we support, and your donation could help us to provide them with a Christmas to remember. Every donation will go towards our vital service which in turn will enable our families to receive the support they need at this time of year.

2. Buy from our Amazon Wishlist❄️

Make giving easy and direct. Choose from our Amazon Wishlist of toys, gifts and essentials — and your purchase will go straight to a family in need.

3. Drop off a gift🎅

Give the gift of joy by donating new, unwrapped presents. Any gifts for women, children or families would be greatly appreciated, but for inspiration, please check our Amazon Wishlist.

Will you be attending the YWCA Yorkshire The Listening Project?💜

Through photography and personal storytelling, women supported by YWCA Yorkshire, alongside members of the wider community, have shared moments of strength, struggle, hope and resilience. Together, their contributions create a compelling visual narrative that encourages reflection, understanding and change✨

The exhibition will take place on Wednesday 25th November 2026, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The event is open and accessible to the public between 10am and 3pm and visitors are welcome to stay for as long as they wish💚

October marks Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness of the reality faced by thousands of women and families every day.

Domestic abuse is not always physical. It can take many forms, including emotional, psychological, coercive, financial and controlling behaviour. By understanding the signs and speaking up, we can help break the silence and support those affected. It is important to remember that no one should face abuse alone.

At YWCA Yorkshire, we are committed to providing safe spaces, support and opportunities for women to rebuild their lives and move forward with confidence and hope.

We are incredibly grateful to have access to dedicated storage space for our charity💜

Having somewhere safe to store donated gifts, raffle prizes, event supplies and other essential items makes a huge difference to the work we do. It helps us stay organised, make the most of every donation, and ensure that items reach the women, children and families who need them most.

Today, on World Homeless Day, we stand with all people affected by homelessness but especially with the thousands of women, children and families who face homelessness and housing insecurity every year💜

At YWCA Yorkshire, we see first-hand that homelessness is about so much more than not having a place to live and that women experience homelessness in very different ways. It can mean uncertainty, isolation, abuse, trauma and a lack of opportunities. It can mean living with huge risk because of fear or lack of a safe alternative. Through our accommodation, support services and specialist programmes, we work alongside women and families to help them rebuild confidence, gain independence and create brighter futures.

This World Homeless Day, help us raise awareness, challenge stigma and support those taking the courageous steps from homelessness towards hope and independence💚
