A Blackpool man has been jailed for four-and-a-half years for s*xually assaulting two girls and several breaches of a S*xual Harm Prevention Order.

Blackpool Police became aware in October 2022 that Thomas Thompson, 55, was working in the resort on a casual basis as a security officer and steward.

As a registered s*x offender, Thompson was subject to a S*xual Harm Prevention Order and had to notify officers about his employment.

A delve into Thompson’s life found that he had lied to the police on numerous occasions, having stated that he was not working and had not revealed he was in an intimate relationship when in fact he was.

During the investigation, officers spoke to teenage girls who Thompson had invited to his home having initially come across as a good Samaritan.

He left Blackpool and went on the run to West Yorkshire as police investigated, however he was arrested in October 2022 and remanded in custody.

Thompson, of Ashton Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to two charges of s*xual assault against girls under the age of 18 and five breaches of his S*xual Harm Prevention Order.

NEWS: SYP manhunt locates and extradites wanted child s*x trafficker

Our manhunt for convicted child s*x trafficker, Sharam Muhamadi, has resulted in him being located, detained, and returned back to the UK yesterday (Tuesday 4 August).

Muhamadi was convicted in his absence on 9 June, when a jury found him guilty of two counts of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view of exploitation.

After charge, the 21-year-old had been remanded into custody, his defence team's application for bail was later granted by the courts. From Monday 18 May, Muhamadi did not attend the trial.

An extensive manhunt was launched by our officers, which tracked Muhamadi to the West Midlands before he was finally located in Switzerland.

Muhamadi, formally of Hexthorpe Road, was extradited back to the UK and immediately remanded into custody. He appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court today (5 August) and is due to appear at the same court on 3 September.
