This week our youngest girls and oldest girls came together to finish off their badge ok communication by learning sign language. A huge thank you to Beth May for helping us all learn this vital skill!

These week we all spent the evening together looking at the different ways we communicate and how important listening is when we communicate. There were lots of challenges to test our listening from creating items out of playdough to drawing pictures from instructions. We also listened to some everyday sounds to try and work out what they were. As well as spending time listening to each other to learn more about each other. Let’s see if anyone can remember what they learnt about their partner next week!

With two of our age groups doing the communications badge this week we had a competition to see if our older girls could work out the word our younger girls were spelling using the Semaphore alphabet. Can you work out what it is?

Clue - it is something all our girls love to do and a great way to communicate.

This evening was a little different as we enjoyed an evening all together having a pj party complete with face masks, popcorn, sweets and a movie! With the all the things that come at the start of a new school year it was brilliant to enjoy some social time just being with each other.

Fantastic to join with the Emmanuel Church Family this morning to celebrate harvest, giving thanks to God for all the amazing things he provides and those who work so hard to bring items from the fields and oceans to our tables. Thank you to everyone who donated, the items collected will be used to support the homeless in Reading and the families in need in our community who access support through our pantry.

All of our age groups are now back into the full swing of badgework. This evening our 11-14 year olds started looking at acceptance. We thought about how to God no one is any less important than anyone else. We may look different, speak differently, live differently, come from different places but each person is made is the image of a loving God. We are called to create communities where everyone knows they belong because everyone is perfectly imperfect! Just like the people they created (without seeing the other parts drawn by others!).
