Celebrating our wonderful member Richard, read his story to find out what he does for us and what Oddfellows does for him 😀

Reading Oddfellows' 'guardian angel' Richard West is this year's winner of the Enriching Lives Socially Making a Difference Award - congratulations Richard! 😇

Richard started and hosts a number of much-loved events, such as singing and exercise groups, and has even helped to resurrect a group that folded which is now thriving.

His 'boundless energy and enthusiasm' has been praised, and he's a deserving winner. Read Richard's story here: www.oddfellows.co.uk/news/recognising-reading-s-guardian-angel

Throughout our long and storied history, we've had many well-known members. Even royalty! 👑

In his early 20s, King William IV stumbled across an Oddfellows meeting at the Feathers Pub, Pimlico. Not only did he insist on becoming a member instantly, but also the Branch’s Chairman. Who could say no to royalty? He became a lifelong member.

Reading District was delighted to welcome Harry from the Willow Foundation Charity, to be presented with a cheque by our Immediate Past Chairman Gary Philips . Harry attended our weekly singing group for a little entertainment first .

Gary and the District would like to thank all our members who contributed, attended events and supported Gary during his year as Chairman. £4750 was a fantastic amount! Harry reminded us of how many young adults aged 18-40 and their families would be supported whilst seriously ill, helping create precious memories in the roughest of times.
