Urgent Appeal: Support for Afzal (Electronic 2013–14)

Assalam Alaikum dear NED Alumni and Pakistani Community in Australia,

Our fellow NEDian Afzal is bravely fighting blood cancer & is currently admitted at Royal Perth Hospital. As the sole breadwinner with 2 very young children and elderly parents, his family is facing severe hardship. Due to his bridging visa, his treatment expenses are not covered by insurance. He will soon travel to Karachi for continued treatment at Aga Khan University Hospital. I (Zeeshan Iqbal, NED Alumni Australia) have spoken with Ali Malik, who is coordinating his care and GoFundMe. Our NED Alumni in Perth, Amjad Malick can also be contacted. Pls share to others as well.

🤲 Please support by donating, sharing, and keeping him in your prayers.

📢 NEDIAN UK – WhatsApp Community Update

• We are pleased to share an important update on how we are organising and strengthening the NEDIAN UK network.
• We will be creating an official NEDIAN UK WhatsApp Community, bringing all existing WhatsApp groups under one structured umbrella.
🔹 The Community will include:
• One main announcement group for important updates
• Local and regional groups based on counties and regions across the UK

🎯 Why are we doing this?
This new structure will help to:
• Enable members to join their local and regional groups
• Encourage local interaction and networking
• Support local meetups and activities
• Keep discussions relevant and location-focused
• Avoid unnecessary disruption to members in other localities
• Improve overall organisation, moderation, and communication

🔧 What will happen next?
To ensure a smooth and consistent setup:
• Existing WhatsApp groups will be brought under the new Community
• Admin roles will be temporarily removed
• Groups will be restructured, renamed, and organised
• Clear community guidelines will be introduced
• New admin roles will be assigned in a structured and transparent manner

🤝 Call for Volunteers – Social Media & Community Management
Once the Community structure is in place, we will organise an online meeting for NEDIANS in the UK interested in volunteering, particularly in:
• Managing local and regional WhatsApp groups
• Supporting community engagement
• Ensuring community guidelines are followed
• Helping organise local meetups and initiatives
• This is a great opportunity to contribute, connect, and help grow the NEDIAN UK network.
• 📅 Meeting details will be shared shortly.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we take this important step towards building a more connected, organised, and inclusive NEDIAN UK community.
Together, we Connect. Support. Grow.

NEDIAN Alumni UK | Thank You & What’s Next

• We are excited to share that we had a fantastic Berkshire Local Meetup yesterday with a large number of NEDIANs in attendance. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a positive and encouraging evening.

• The discussion was engaging and constructive, with valuable feedback and suggestions shared. It was great to see how much the initiative was appreciated and how keen many of you are to volunteer and support NEDIAN UK in different capacities.

• A key highlight was the strong interest in mentoring sessions, with several members already offering to volunteer as mentors etc. There was also clear agreement on the importance of continuing regular gatherings to stay connected and build momentum as a community.

• During the session, we shared our vision, reviewed what we have done and achieved so far, and discussed next steps, followed by food, drinks, and informal networking.

• Based on the response, we are now planning similar meetups in major cities / towns including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and are looking for volunteers to help organise and support these sessions.

👉 If you’re interested in getting involved or contributing in any way, please get in touch with Omair Sheikh 07886994056 ot email us at [email protected]

Thank you once again to everyone who attended and supported this gathering.
We’re excited about what lies ahead for NEDIAN UK.
