Our International Speech and Evaluation competition is being held on the 16th March. Are you curious to find out who will win this year? Come along and find out.

With competition season creeping around the corner, its a tense time for all Toastmasters… Or maybe thats just me. Speaking in front of your club is great, but putting yourself out there in front of bigger, unfamiliar crowds is a great way to test your comfort zone. If you’re scared to compete, ...

Always great to have a full house. Over 30 attendees for Monday’s meeting, with 10 guests. One thing we do differently at Reading is get the guests to speak as much as much as possible - impromtpu speaking, intros, outros, thoughts etc. One of the best ways to make guests feel part of a Toastmaste...

What a way to kickstart the year!

Due to a few unexpected changes, our meeting went quite unorthodox - in the best way possible.

We started off going person-person, hearing everyone's plans and aspirations for 2026. We then shimmied into table topics, which we had 10 of. Finally to end the meeting, we had a battle between the heavyweight champions - Harrington VS Sinclair.

🥇Amelia (guest) won best table topics with ease. An absolute natural.

🥇Despite being misinformed and put at a disadvantage by Danny, Luke smashed his Table Topic Evaluation.

🥇Matt helped save the meeting by booking a speech last minute and in typical Matt fashion, won.

Next meeting is on the 19th January, Happy New Year.

Come to our next meeting on 5th January!

Your Toastmasters training has helped you feel comfortable when speaking in front of a group and self-assured when leading a meeting or giving a speech. But what about when you are conversing one-on-one? Does your confidence level take a dive during your day-today communication with others?

Congratulations to President Danny

Congratulations to Danny Wang – District 91 Humorous Speech Champion!

Danny had the audience in stitches as he shared how a podcast on frugality pushed him into over-monitoring his money right down to obsessing over a £5.50 beer his friend hadn’t paid back.

With brilliant humor (including a spot-on Donald Trump impression!), he showed how a tiny debt grew into a huge distraction… until he finally realized the truth:

Relationships matter far more than the money we try to track.

A hilarious, heartfelt performance and a well-deserved win!

🌟 In a battle of courage against the shadows of fear, light has triumphed once more! 🌟

On a night cloaked in darkness — for some, their very first brave steps into the unknown — our champions rose.

⚔️ Mark struck true as Best Evaluator, shining clarity and insight where doubt once lingered.

🔥 Matt, unarmed with preparation but fearless nonetheless, claimed the title of Best Speaker, proving that confidence can overcome chaos.

🌠 And in a dazzling twist of fate, a visiting guest, Marlies, conquered the impromptu realm to become Best Table Topics speaker — for the second time!

To all who stood and spoke — whether seasoned or stepping into the light for the first time — well done. Your courage lit up the evening.

May every word you speak continue to banish fear, and may your path ahead be ever brighter. 💫
