This week, the Scottish Government launched a new Childcare Support Fund open to third sector organisations across Scotland.

TSEF & the TSI Network are co-hosting a webinar with the Scottish Government Fund Leads to allow potential applicants to find out more about the fund and ask questions to the policy team.

The fund aims to provide short-term, flexible childcare through registered childcare providers, to support families living in, or at risk of, poverty at key times when childcare costs create financial pressure or act as a barrier to employment, training or learning.

The new fund is one of a range of measures set out in the Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan, Bringing Hope, Building Futures, which will help drive further progress in eradicating child poverty.

This one-year fund is designed to top up existing support — not replace it — including free childcare hours and Universal Credit childcare payments.

🎨Discovering Your Creativity Through The Artist’s Way

Published author Osanna Vaughn is offering a free 12-week programme based on The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, a guided journey designed to help participants explore and develop creativity in all areas of life.

Creativity isn’t just about the arts. This course encourages participants to discover creative approaches to everyday life, work and personal growth in a supportive group setting.

The programme begins with two in-person sessions in Perth, followed by weekly Sunday Zoom sessions.

🎨 New Funding Opportunity: Hugo Burge Foundation Grants

Applications open 1 June - 31 July 2026 for Creative Education and Creative Communities funding.

Grants of up to £15,000 (over 3 years) are available to support cultural and creative projects across the UK - from festivals and arts organisations to schools, charities and community groups.

The Hugo Burge Foundation is a major new arts funding body. In 2025, its first full year, we distributed £400,000 of grant funding to individuals, communities and organisations across the United Kingdom.

Grief touches us all, but for many older adults, it often goes unseen.

Alongside the loss of lifelong partners and friendships, later life can also bring changes such as declining health, loss of independence and shrinking social networks. These layered experiences can create a complex and often overlooked grief.

Grief in Older Age is a new training course from Cruse Scotland exploring how grief manifests in later life, why it is often misunderstood, and how we can respond with empathy, respect and practical support.

The session will help participants:

🔹 Recognise the unique grief experiences of older adults
🔹 Understand how assumptions such as “it’s to be expected” can unintentionally diminish experiences of grief
🔹 Build confidence in delivering meaningful, person-centred support
