The Gannochy Trust has recently appointed Ruairidh Stewart to join its Board of Trustees from 3rd December 2025. Stephen Hay, who had been a Trustee for nine and a half years, stood down on the same day having served two full terms on the Board.
Ruairidh has over nine yearsโ€™ experience as an Investment Manager with Canaccord Wealth, managing portfolios for a diverse range of clients, including charities, trusts, corporate entities, and private individuals. Ruairidh holds a Law degree from the University of Cambridge, is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, and has a particular interest in how long-term investment decisions can have a transformative impact on the work of the Trust.
Stephen joined the Trust in June 2016 and held the position of Chair from May 2023 to July 2025. During his time with the Trust he made a significant contribution across all areas of the Trustโ€™s activity, including leading a review of the Grant Strategy in 2022. He was also closely involved with developing and implementing a new investment strategy for the Trust which will help protect and grow the funds the Trust generates to support communities throughout Perthshire and Scotland. During his time on the Board, Stephen had a particular interest in how the Trust could help charities to nurture young people into positive destinations.
Roland Bean, Chair of The Gannochy Trust said: โ€œWe welcome Ruairidh to our Board of Trustees. His wide range of investment knowledge and underlying passion for the work of the Trust will complement our Board greatly. We would also like to thank Stephen for the huge contribution he has made to the Trust over the last nine and a half years. His extensive knowledge and insightful advice will be greatly missed.โ€
