At Pulp Friction, we're extremely lucky to have a team of passionate volunteers who believe in our work and the abilities of our Members.

They not only share their skills and knowledge with us, but are kind, patient and considerate in everything they do.

🙇‍♂️Think... ✋Stop... 🙅‍♂️Block!

This has been our slogan of the week as we've looked at social media and internet safety!

📱 We've talked about scams, AI, and the advantages and disadvantages of social media and how we use it at Pulp Friction.

👨‍🍳 We've done lots of buffet orders at JHQ, and plenty of food prepping at Pulp&Prints - including Tom and Eleanor's flapjack, Olivia's famous lemon drizzle and Michelle, Eleanor and Nadia's roasted vegetable soup made from surplus veggies!

🚲 On Tuesday, Yasmin and Daniel did a brilliant job running the smoothie bike at Bestwood Community Centre's Family Fun Day. We saw Albert who was at the event with another group, so simply had to get him on the bike!

🪱 We had a very warm visit to The Urban Worm CIC which was good fun, and even snuck in a litter pick walk too!

🌍 Yesterday we attended the Green Hustle event in the Market Square to help raise awareness of the impact of climate change.

⚽ And today we're at Ilkeston FC for a charity football match between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Highways Departments!

Happy sunny Sunday!

This week's been a goodie...

🔪 We've been busy up at JHQ, serving customers, prepping food and keeping areas clean and well-stocked!

🍏 We've talked about the importance of personal care throughout the week, with a visit from Victoria at the Robin Cancer trust, who explained some of the different checks we could do to spot signs of cancer, and a team from Thriving Nottingham who chatted about leading healthy lifestyles.

🐝 Members made beautiful arrangements from surplus flowers, planted some seeds bombs in our community garden to celebrate National Bee Day and also thought about the different reasons people might want to join us for our Summertime Ball! (keep an eye out for a post tomorrow 👀)

💌 To practice communication skills, Members have been writing letters and postcards to our neighbours so this week we dropped some flowers and letters Cherry Tree Resources Centre Residents.

🍲 At Pulp&Prints we made a soup, a curry and iced a school cake ready for a busy day hosting a visit from Nethergate school on Thursday.

🧊 We got ready for the sunshine by restocking our freezer with ice for cool drinks, celebrated receiving a 5/5 hygiene rating, and even found a spare 20 mins to brush up on our social skills with some new flashcards…..Phew

☀️ To finish a busy week in the sunshine, we enjoyed a BBQ at Bestwood on Friday where we were treated to a visit from Bea!

🌻 And today, we're over at Stockhill showing off our Chelsea Flower Show garden in the beautiful weather. Michelle & Adam are doing an excellent job running the kitchen!

Lights... Camera... Action!

🎥 Our Members did a brilliant job hosted a film crew towards the end of this week at Pulp&Prints in Clifton! The film is being made to celebrate gardens like ours from the Chelsea Flower Show in 2024, but won't be shown for quite some time!

☕ The Pulp&Prints team were also busy sorting and tidying craft supplies from Bestwood, hosting Nethergate school - where the dream team of Eleanor & Joe helped to serve - and cooked up a delicious homemade curry to finish their busy week.

❤️‍🩹 Across Pulp Friction, we've been inspired by . We've spent some time looking at how stress can impact our bodies. Members made worry monsters and did a little more work on the zones of regulation.

🌲 We've also been out and about a lot this week! We visited Karl at Daybrook Bowls Green Open Day, attended the Disability Support Event in Basford, (where Angela made a new friend!🦜) and Debbie did some networking at the Clifton Community meeting.

👩‍🍳 The JHQ team did a fantastic job catering two large buffets for a couple of Chief Awards Evenings at JHQ, we've done lots of food prepping, and we enjoyed a couple more sessions with The Urban Worm CIC!
