Rachel’s Last Hurrah!
Belters Sing at St Peter’s - Saturday 10th Oct 2026. £10 on the door
After 20 wonderful years at the helm, this is the last Belters event that choir director and founder Rachel Foster will lead.
Rachel is also a co-founder of Nottingham Jazz venue Peggy's Skylight, and with that being more than a handful on her plate (!) she is handing over the baton to Anya Aujla-Jones, a gifted singer-songwriter and pianist who will bring a fresh approach to this established and much loved choir.
Belters are an all women ensemble of singers with a vast vocal range between them. They have performed their a capella repertoire to many audiences over the last 20 years, the most well-known being the Park Tunnel gigs, which have become an annual summer tradition until the council saw fit to put a stop to it this year.
They have collaborated with many other artists – The Invisible Orchestra, Daudi Matsiko, Dennis Rollins and Church of the Cosmic Skull to name a few.
At St Peter’s, Belters will be performing an exciting and varied repertoire of soulful music, encompassing polyphonic harmonies from Eastern Europe, obscure English folk, traditional and modern gospel sounds from America - with some new numbers alongside perennial favourites.
There will be a licensed bar at the event, as well as savoury snacks and tombola.
All profits go directly to support Emmanuel House and the important work they do in the area, supporting people who are homeless, rough sleeping or in crisis in Nottingham.
