Sam wanted to squeeze every last moment from life ~ in doing that he not only encouraged others to do the same, but helped to enable that.

With this donation, others who face similar mobility challenges will be able to experience the exhilaration or participating in a road race.

🎉♿️ SAM’S RACE LEGACY CONTINUES ♿️🎉

We are proud to announce that Sam’s race chair has been donated to so the experience of participating in a road race is accessible to more people!

We have only asked in return that and his team try to prioritise use of this special race kit for those diagnosed with motor neurone disease and, if the racer is fundraising, to raise funds for Stand Against MND.

~ thank you for your invaluable support, guidance and creativity to help Sam achieve his ambition of completing the London Marathon and so many more races!

🧡🤍 LDN 26 ~ THE MEMORY MARATHON 🤍🧡

Stand Against MND is so grateful for all the fabulous people who make up Team SAM and our marathon runners are top of that list!
j.rawling .fraser.3386 and you all did an amazing job training for and running the marathon. It is people like you who help us to keep Sam’s legacy alive and Stand Against MND in the spotlight.

Emotions were riding high (we managed to get a few snaps where Tom wasn’t crying 😉) and Mandy battled through even when her hamstring tried to convince her otherwise!

The determination, courage and passion for the cause shone through our Team SAM (as well as the actual ☀️!), runners ran and supporters supported (special shout out to long-time Team SAM member for coming down to support) and the donations came pouring in.

MND is a cruel disease that takes away a persons independence bit by bit, in any order it chooses and at any pace it likes. Will it be arms next? Voice? Diaphragm? Who knows? No one. That’s why Sam passionately believed that MND isn’t incurable, it’s research is just under funded.

Stand Against MND is proud to have been a fundraiser for the for this years raising funds to help research to find a cure for MND.

🏃TEAM SAM INTRO…STEPH!🏃

Steph was one of Sam’s triathlon peers and trained alongside Sam at the East Leake Tri Club. Steph has been an incredible supporter in our fundraising challenges. So far Steph has swum 1.2-miles towing a kayak holding 100kg to represent Sam’s bodyweight as part of the One More Tri challenge, ran both London marathon’s and the Leeds – Rob Burrow marathon.

“Sam was always our ‘why’ for these challenges, especially London as it was his bucket list race.

A marathon is always tough, but every mile was about resilience, raising awareness and making sure his voice and experience were heard.

With Sam passing in February 2025, this year we’re running in his memory. We won’t be pushing his chair, but we’ll be carrying his legacy: about courage, determination, and never taking a single step for granted.”

🏃TEAM SAM INTRO…NEIL!🏃

Neil is one of the local GP’s in the village where Sam grew up and knew Sam from a child. Neil not only supported the provision of medical care for Sam but also was one of the four team members who pushed Sam around the London Marathon 2024.

is a close friend of our very own trustee and a long-time Stand Against MND supporter. Mandy has experienced MND through a family member and so is passionate about helping to make positive change.

“Sam showed what it truly means to stand up to MND. Running the London Marathon in his memory feels like a way to honour his legacy and the incredible strength he showed every single day.”

This is Mandy’s first marathon so we’re all sending good vibes and know that Sam would be proud to have inspired another person to challenge themselves and take a Stand Against MND!

j.rawling is Sam’s brother and has been a dedicated supporter of all of Sam’s challenges both on the race course and off. Tom ran in the epic ‘Broken not Buckled’ London Marathon 2024 Team SAM team and is now more determined than ever to raise awareness of MND.
