π¦ Recently, we welcomed nearly 30 adults and children to our free Bat Detecting walk at Albert Village Lake!
Local wildlife experts Joe and Alyson Kirkwood led the walk and started with insights on what bats eat, and that their social behaviour and life cycle is more akin to elephants than their genetics!
Using bat detectors, we were successful in βhearingβ and seeing at least two species of bat. The Common Pipistrelle Bat, which often flies around woodland and houses, and the Daubentonβs Bat which flies over water.

Thank you to all who attended, and special thanks to Joe and Alyson for this fantastic outing!
