Don’t miss our next women & girls’ session at Stapleford skatepark this Sunday 7th June, at our new earlier time of 10:30 - 11:30!⁣
⁣
These sessions aim to bring a fun and comfortable environment for female skaters to meet up for an informal skate, or for some coaching from our qualified female coaches - your choice. ⁣
⁣
Immediately following this will be our open coached session, open to all ages 7+, from 11:30 - 13:00. These sessions have been very popular so far - please arrive promptly to ensure you are able to join the session before we hit capacity. Sign-ups will close 15 minutes after the start time. ⁣

We thank Broxtowe Borough Council and The Stapleford Towns Fund once again for funding this spring/summer programme of free activity in Stapleford!⁣

This half term week we were invited to host a free skateboard coaching session at one of our favourite skateparks, King George V a.k.a. Standhill, in Carlton. ⁣
⁣
What a pleasure it was to see Nottingham legend doing a creative workshop with our participants afterwards, including some custom name pieces and some consultation for a new mural for the park. ⁣
⁣
Big thanks to the Friends of King George V Recreation Ground group for their work activating and caring for their local park, for the community. ⁣

Some Joshua Dale skatepark curb clips from our session lead, ! 🔥⁣

The curbs were added to this space during a Skate Nottingham x Gedling Borough Council workshop in early 2024, as a successful low-cost intervention to reactivate this space following the removal of the dilapidated wooden skatepark. ⁣
⁣
We’ve been working hard to secure funding for new work here in partnership with , more on that soon. It is important to note this space is owned and maintained by the council, and is NOT open to any kind of DIY building. ⁣

Loads of new people on skateboards, and new tricks learned, as we began a new programme of Edu-Skate at our regular Stapleford skatepark sessions!⁣
⁣
Edu-Skate is a programme that teaches 11 life-skills to young people through skateboard coaching, developed by Concrete Jungle Foundation in Jamaica, and delivered by partner organisations around the world. Our first week was Positive Mental Attitude, with participants giving themselves encouragement to try new things!⁣
⁣
Join us again this Sunday, from 13:30 - 15:00, for more Edu-Skate with our team of trained coaches. ⁣
⁣
All ages 7+ are welcome, skateboards & helmets available to borrow. No tickets required, but please arrive promptly to participate in the session. Latecomers will be unable to join half way through a session. ⁣
