Education for the Children Foundation Education For The Children work with young people from all backgrounds in the Jocotenango area. GT.

Driven by a commitment to equal opportunities, Education for the Children has worked with disadvantaged young people and families from the Jocotenango area since 2003 to access quality education, nutritious food, healthcare and social support. We aim to empower young people with the skills and confidence to be successful in their chosen careers. EFTC runs The School of Hope in an urban area where

extreme poverty, gang crime, domestic violence and alcoholism are everyday realities. Food, healthcare, counselling and career guidance at the school remove obstacles to education and enable these students to realise their potential. Over 700 children and young adults study with EFTC both at The School of Hope and via a Scholarship programme for high-school and university students. Visit: https://linktr.ee/eftc

In our afternoon entrepreneurship workshop, students learned how to create handmade soaps using a melt-and-pour method, experimenting with ingredients such as oats, rice, and different fragrances.

Beyond making soaps, they are developing practical skills, creativity, and an entrepreneurial mindset. These experiences help students explore ways they can create opportunities for themselves, support their families, and build a brighter future.

Every new skill learned is another step toward confidence, independence, and possibility.

En nuestro taller de emprendimiento de la tarde, las estudiantes aprendieron a elaborar jabones artesanales utilizando la técnica de jabón fundido, experimentando con ingredientes como avena, arroz y diferentes aromas.

Our Talent Show gave students the opportunity to share their creativity, skills, and hard work with their families and community. Through presentations in music, art, science, sports, and entrepreneurship, students showcased just a glimpse of the many talents that exist within our school.

Seeing parents, families, and friends cheering from the audience made the day even more special.

Before classes begin each morning, our students gather for Friendly Space—a time to connect with classmates, share their thoughts and feelings, and enjoy activities they love.

Today, our 3rd grade students spent that time sharing the books they are reading. Moments like these help foster a love of reading while creating a welcoming environment where students feel seen, heard, and ready to learn.
