There’s a classic parable about an Australian outback rancher who manages a livestock population across thousands of wide-open acres. When a visitor asks how they keep the animals from running away without any fences, the rancher replies:

"We don’t build fences. We just dig wells."

In leadership, "fences" are rigid rules.. "Wells" represent a central, nourishing purpose, shared values, and high-value resources that teams naturally want to gather around.

What is your biggest takeaway from this parable when it comes to leadership? Are you building fences or digging wells?

When we are mapping our locality, its worth including all the local groups
and organisations that meet in the area. It's important to notice
both those that have their own premises and those who use another's
building or space. Find out why in this video.
