WORKERS BY DAY. GUARDS BY NIGHT.

As we build our dreams, careers, families, or ministries, we must remember there’s always opposition.

The builders of Jerusalem didn’t just work; they watched.
They held tools in one hand and weapons in the other.

So as you work during the day,
be a guard at night.
Pray. Watch. Stay alert.

Because what you’re building is worth protecting.

The desire to build often begins as a burden.

For Nehemiah, it wasn’t about him. He was comfortable, living in the palace, serving the king. But true building is never about personal comfort; it’s about others.

God gives us knowledge of a gap in a territory and reveals what is needed through a burden. That burden moves us to weep, to fast, and to pray, just like Nehemiah. Then comes the decision to build.

Nehemiah was a cupbearer to the king, a man with access that few others had. God had positioned him there for such a time as this.

When God calls you to build, He also grants you access, not always to palaces, but through your job, position, relationships, or influence. What looks ordinary may actually be divine access for a kingdom assignment.

The chapters that follow in Nehemiah’s story show just how vital that access was to the rebuilding process.

So if you feel a burden, don’t ignore it. It may just be God inviting you to build.

Laying the Foundation for 2026

The last 3 months of 2025 (Oct–Dec) are not ordinary, they are foundational. What we do in this season will determine how we build in 2026.

That’s why the last 2 weeks of September are a time to pray and seek God for vision focus:
Spiritual – pray, fast, study more?
Professional – take a course, sharpen skills?
Financial – save, invest, steward resources?
Relational – connect, reconcile, partner?
Personal – build habits, steward health?

This is not the time to act on impulse but to move by divine instruction. Alignment with God’s strategy is the foundation for what He wants to build next.

Be spiritually awake. Listen carefully.

We often take ownership of everything in our lives, thinking they belong to us.
It shows in the way we use them, the way we make decisions independently without consulting God.

We say:
“My money, my business, my ministry, my life, my family, my children, my marriage, my this, my that…”

But the truth is: whatever we have as children of God comes from Him.

God has entrusted these things to us as resources for His projects.
He gives the money, the job, the house, the children, the marriage, the business, the idea, the vision, the project… and they are not ours to own, but ours to steward.

A steward doesn’t decide on their own. A steward goes back to the One who entrusted the resources and asks:
“What do You want me to do with this?”

It’s just like being employed. When your employer gives you resources, you don’t use them however you want. You must return to the employer and ask how they should be used.

So it is with God.
Whatever He has given us — life, time, relationships, wealth, vision; we are merely stewards. Our duty is to humbly submit and ask:
“Lord, how do You want me to use what You’ve given me?”
