We work with individuals, communities, & institutions to build a culture of peace through public enlightenement, programs and advocacies for sustainable development. PHD Center is a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious and non-profit organization with the purpose of raising the consciousness of every individual called a citizen of a given community to promoting sustainable development as

it relates to humanity and embrace sustainable peace as its driving force. Our prime mission is to partner with governments, donor agencies, non-government organizations, local community organizations and well meaning individuals to develop sustainable development policies and programs to address human well-being, security challenges and peaceful coexistence in our world. myLGA Project in Action!

As part of our ongoing myLGA Project, champions from Peacebuilding and Human Development (PHD) Center held interactive engagement sessions with the Araromi Student Union and the Ijero Local Government Student Union

The discussions focused on the Citizen Help Desk its purpose, how students can use it to report community issues, and the importance of active citizen participation in local governance.

We are excited by the enthusiasm and willingness of these student leaders to engage, speak up, and become part of the solution in their communities.

As part of our ongoing intervention in Ido-Osi Local Government Area, PHDCENTER partners with EiENigeria to engage Champions who engaged with different local groups across the LGA to promote active citizenship and community participation.

During the engagement, members of the Olomi Cooperative Society and a student body (NAIOS) were sensitized on the importance of the Citizen Help Desk as a platform for reporting concerns, seeking support, and engaging constructively with local authorities. The groups expressed strong interest and willingness to actively engage the Help Desk.

These interactions continue to strengthen grassroots participation and ensure that citizens’ voices are heard at the local level.

PHDCENTER, through our dedicated Community Champions, carried out a sensitization visit to the Youth Association in Ilawe Ekiti as part of the myLGA Project in Ekiti West Local Government Area

During the engagement, youths were sensitized on active citizenship, community participation, and accountability at the local government level. They were also encouraged to utilize the Citizen's Help Desk as a platform to report issues, seek support, and engage constructively with local authorities.

This intervention strengthens youth voices and promotes inclusive participation in local governance.

From Silence to Active Citizenship – The myLGA Story in Ido-Osi LGA

Before the myLGA Project came to Ido-Osi LGA, many young people and community members felt disconnected from local governance. Issues existed, but voices were silent. Accountability felt distant.

Through the myLGA Project, implemented by Peace Building and Human Development Center (PHDcenter) in partnership with EiE Nigeria, citizens are now learning how local government works, how to engage their representatives, and how to demand accountability through peaceful and constructive means.

Community dialogues, civic education sessions, and youth engagement activities have empowered residents to ask questions, track projects, and participate actively in decision-making. Young people who once felt unheard are now confidently engaging their local authorities.

Today in Ido-Osi LGA, citizens are no longer passive observers, they are active stakeholders in governance.

This is what change looks like: informed citizens, responsive leadership, and stronger communities.
