Happy Volunteers’ Week! 💜

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible volunteers from our Women’s Inclusive Team who give their time, energy, and compassion to support our charity.

Their dedication helps us reach more people, create welcoming spaces, and provide vital support to those in our community who need it most. From lending a listening ear to helping organise activities and events, their contribution makes a real difference.

We are so grateful for everything they do. Thank you for your kindness, commitment, and passion for helping others. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive community. 🌟

Last week, voluntary sector leaders came together to meet Nnenna Osuji, the new CEO of the North East London Integrated Care Board, for an important conversation about collaboration and improving community health.
Together, we explored the importance of coproduction and amplifying community voices, the pressures facing the system, the need for sustainable funding, opportunities to strengthen partnerships, and how we can reduce duplication to maximise our collective impact.
It was a valuable opportunity to showcase the incredible work taking place across Tower Hamlets’ voluntary and community sector, while building stronger relationships with system leaders. We look forward to continuing this dialogue and developing more joined-up, community-led approaches that improve health and wellbeing for everyone.

A huge thank you to .housing for the lovely donation of toys to our Chicksand Nursery! 💛
These new resources will provide our children with even more opportunities to learn, explore, imagine, and develop important social and creative skills through play. Seeing their excitement as they discover new toys is truly wonderful, and we are so grateful for your generosity and support.
Thank you for helping us create a fun, engaging, and enriching environment for our little learners. 🌟

What a wonderful few weeks of learning and adventure! 🚜🐑🌿
The children had an exciting trip to the farm, where they loved meeting the animals and exploring the outdoors. We were also lucky to welcome a special visitor who taught us all about the importance of good hygiene and how to brush our teeth properly 🪥😁
As we prepared for Eid, the children enjoyed getting creative by painting their own Kaabas 🕋🌙. We also took a trip to Sainsbury’s to buy seeds, which we carefully planted together. Now we can’t wait to watch them grow and bloom! 🌱🌼
So proud of all the children’s enthusiasm, creativity, and curiosity! 💚✨

The Haawa Project stands in solidarity with Muslim women and all communities affected by hate.
Using the image of Muslim women or the hijab to provoke outrage, spread misinformation, or fuel division is deeply harmful and contributes to rising Islamophobia.
Nobody should feel unsafe because of their religion, ethnicity, dress or appearance. Muslim women deserve to live freely and safely without harassment, intimidation or being used in hate-fuelled narratives.
We call on the media, public figures, police and Government to take Islamophobic misinformation seriously and challenge attempts to spread fear and division.
Dignity. Safety. Respect for all.

Our curious little learners had so much fun searching the garden for bugs and insects, using magnifying glasses 🔍 and spades to discover all sorts of tiny creatures. We also loved getting messy in the tuff tray with mud play and insect toys 🪱🪴
The creativity continued indoors as we decorated beautiful butterflies 🦋 and made our very own caterpillars inspired by The Hungry Caterpillar 🍎🐛 using paint, glue, and lots of sticking fun!
A wonderful week full of curiosity, creativity, messy play, and outdoor adventures 💚✨

Our team based in Barnsley Street Clinic, hosted a chess tournament and poetry group as creativity becomes a safe space. ✍️🧠 Chess focuses on patience, resilience, and the power of slowing down before making your next move. Mental health works the same way one thoughtful move at a time. ♟️🧠
Our poetry classes give people the chance to slow down, reflect, express emotions, and connect with others through words.
Through every verse and every conversation, we’re building confidence, community, and stronger mental wellbeing together.

We had a Maangaar Documentary premiere coffee morning for our members. The event kicked off with a mindfulness exercise, a reminder of relaxing our minds and bodies, being grateful and present. Then we had the pleasure of screening the short documentary, which the members loved! The consensus was to hold another, bigger screening so it reaches many more people and to share on our YouTube channel (coming soon!). We had a little Q&A afterwards and enjoyed the beautiful spread of Somali pancakes and tea 💙❤️💚💛ppc
