Our Community Connectors have been out walking with our service users, enjoying fresh air, friendly faces, and meaningful conversations.
These community walks are about so much more than exercise—they’re about building connections, improving wellbeing, and supporting positive mental health, one step at a time. 💚🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

To celebrate the completion of our 6-week Walk and Create programme, we came together for a special Eid celebration filled with culture, creativity, and connection.

Participants enjoyed cultural quizzes, created Eid cards, shared delicious food, and had beautiful mehendi designs applied. It was a wonderful way to mark the end of six weeks of walking, learning, creating, and building friendships.

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the celebration so memorable. 💚

Our Hiddo Youth Project girls have been keeping busy with a range of inspiring and educational activities! 💙✨
Recently, they visited to explore Somali culture through art and traditional artefacts. It was a truly eye-opening experience, with many seeing Somali artefacts they had never come across in UK households. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our heritage, strengthen identity and learn more about our rich culture.

They also took part in a powerful workshop at the Ben Kinsella Trust, where they learned about the devastating impact of knife crime on young people, families and communities. As Ben had only recently completed his GCSEs when his life was tragically taken, his story really resonated with the girls, who are close to his age. It was an important session that encouraged meaningful conversations about making safe choices and looking out for one another.
We’re so proud of the girls for embracing every opportunity to learn, grow and support one another. Here’s to many more enriching experiences! 💜

What a fun-filled few weeks at Chicksand Nursery! 💛
Our little explorers had an exciting trip to the farm, where they loved meeting the animals and discovering the wonders of nature together. 🐑🚜🌿
We were also lucky to welcome a special visitor who taught us all about the importance of good hygiene and how to brush our teeth properly. 🪥😁
Getting creative, the children painted their own Kaaba in preparation for Eid, learning about this special celebration through art. 🕋🌙
To finish off our adventures, we took a trip to Sainsbury’s to buy seeds. Together, we planted them in pots and can’t wait to watch them grow over the coming weeks! 🌼🌱
Every day is filled with learning, creativity, and new adventures at Chicksand Nursery! 💚✨

Our Shaah & Sheeko (Chai & Chat) coffee morning for parents took place at the Mayfield Wellbeing Hub for SEND families ☕✨

It was a calm and mindful space where we revisited and practiced what we learned during our Mindfulness sessions last year. Mothers had the opportunity to offload, connect, and share their stories while grounding themselves with a simple fidget ball activity 💛
We also enjoyed delicious refreshments from our in-house caterer, Hooyo East — a favourite with our members as always! 🌿🍰

Three weeks ago we launched our WIT Little Explorers Stay & Play session at our nursery and preschool, welcoming families with children aged 0–6 💛

What an amazing day it truly was seeing families come together and enjoy our inclusive space! From our quiet sensory corner, baby corner, bouncy castle, and henna painting outside — there was something for everyone 🌈🧸

We ended the session with singing and Somali dancing, introducing children and families to Buranbur and celebrating culture together ✨
We’re running every Saturday for the next 8 weeks and would love to welcome even more families!
