Lynsey has taken part in Race for Life for the last three years. For her, each one tells a very different story.

After going through a difficult period in her life, Lynsey felt she was spiralling. “I’d never really struggled with my mental health before, so navigating that felt completely unfamiliar,” she shares.

Determined to rebuild both physically and mentally, she began focusing on small, sustainable changes, getting active again and prioritising healthier habits.

“The biggest changes have been in my fitness, my mindset and my overall wellbeing,” says Lynsey.

Lynsey is just one of Slimming World's members taking part in Race for Life. Together, Slimming World and its members have raised an incredible £30 million for Cancer Research UK.

Thank you Lynsey, for your continued support and a huge well done for helping raise vital funds for our life-saving work🩷

A few weeks ago Alison and Kirsty stood together on the start line at Race for Life Glasgow, sounding the starter horn and sending thousands of people on their way at Glasgow Green.

It was a special moment for the pair who are now cancer free but after genetic testing, both learnt they carry the BRCA1 gene, increasing their risk of breast and ovarian cancer. They first struck up a strong friendship after meeting through a support group, and quickly became a lifeline for one another during the hardest year of their lives.

Alison was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2024 and went through chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. Kirsty was diagnosed just weeks later. She faced months of chemotherapy, major surgery and radiotherapy.

Around 5,000 people walked, jogged, ran and danced through Scotland’s largest city, raising an incredible £642,321 for us. Helping fund research that’s allowing people to live longer, better lives free from the fear of cancer.

Alison and Kirsty completed the Race for Life 3k, picked up their medals, and helped raise almost £5,000 as part of their team ❤️
