Tonight, Gareth Southgate's BBC documentary Changing the Game for Young Men shines a spotlight on the challenges facing boys and young men in Britain.

At Both Parents Matter, we believe one vital part of the conversation is too often overlooked: the importance of fathers.

Every child deserves the opportunity to benefit from positive role models, and for most children that starts with meaningful involvement from both parents.

If we're serious about supporting the next generation, we need to recognise that both parents, including fathers, matter.

Changing the Game for Young Men is on BBC 1 at 9pm tonight or available on iplayer:

🏴 Two peaks, two very different experiences today — but one shared mission. 💙

Sam reached the summit of Snowdon in glorious sunshine ☀️ while over on Ben Nevis, Frances faced snow, freezing winds and clouds. Although conditions meant she couldn’t make the final ascent herself, the Both Parents Matter flag still proudly made it to the top thanks to the team from Shared Parenting Scotland. ❄️🏔️

Together, they’ve helped raise awareness and support for families across the UK as part of our campaign.

Huge congratulations to Sam, Frances and everyone involved in flying the flag for shared parenting and family support nationwide. 💙

If you’d like to support the campaign — or even take on your own fundraising challenge — there’s still time to get involved this May!

🚂❌ For everyone asking — no, Sam has NOT taken the train up Snowdon.

We can now officially confirm we have evidence that he is genuinely walking uphill under his own steam. If you’d like to support Sam’s climb (and reward this undeniable commitment to avoiding public transport), you can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/sam-morfey-3

☀️🏔️ He’s on his way!

Our CEO, Sam Morfey has officially begun his climb up Snowdon as part of our Make May Matter challenge.

And for once… Wales appears to have delivered sunshine!

Sam is climbing to help raise funds and awareness for separated families across the UK and to support the vital work of Both Parents Matter.

If you’d like to cheer him on (or sponsor every uphill step), you can support the campaign here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/sam-morfey-3

Good luck Sam — summit selfies expected. 💙

🍟⛰️ Our Chair of Trustees - Frances Carr - has taken an 'interesting' approach to pre-climb nutrition ahead of her attempt at Ben Nevis for our Make May Matter fundraiser.

While our CEO Sam has been carefully carb loading on the pasta front, Frances has bravely opted for the elite athlete combo of McDonald’s fries and an apple pie.

We’re not saying this is officially endorsed mountain-fuelling advice… but we say whatever boosts morale!

If you are Team Pie over Team Pasta, we know Frances would appreciate your support! She's aiming to raise £1,345 - that's £1 for every metre of Ben Nevis and you can sponsor her here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/frances-carr-3

🍝⛰️ Carb-loading level: CEO.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Snowdon climb for Make May Matter, our CEO - Sam Morfey - appears to be taking the “pasta performance strategy” extremely seriously.

Tomorrow he’ll be tackling the highest mountain in Wales to raise funds for Both Parents Matter and support separated parents across the UK.

There is still time to sponsor Sam’s climb (and help justify this mountain of rigatoni), you can support him here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/sam-morfey-3

Good luck Sam — may the carbs carry you to the summit. 💙

We are disappointed to see the Department of Work and Pensions announce plans to stop reporting the Parental Conflict Indicator, which was one of nine indicators set out by the previous Government to track progress in tackling disadvantage and child outcomes.

We have objected in writing to the DWP, asking for it to be continued, whilst working with charities, researchers and frontline professionals to improve the reporting on child wellbeing, parental mental health and family stability.

Clear and transparent reporting is essential to track parental conflict and to tailor and monitor support to protect the mental wellbeing of parents and children, a point we also made in our submission.
