Almost a third of the UK’s carbon emissions come from transport - more than any other
sector - mostly from cars, vans and lorries. That's why choosing to travel more sustainably by public transport, walking/wheeling or cycling is one of the most effective things we can do to tackle climate change.

πŸŽ‰ Independent evaluation confirms the impact of our campaigning!

We're delighted that an independent evaluation by CAG Consultants, carried out on behalf of the Foundation for Integrated Transport, has recognised the difference our work is making.

The review found that Campaign for Better Transport has delivered "real and positive impact", helping the Foundation for Integrated Transport achieve its mission and priorities.

We're incredibly proud of what our small team has achieved alongside our partners, supporters and communities. Together, we've helped shape transport policy, champion better public transport, and improve access to jobs, education, healthcare and everyday opportunities.

A huge thank you to the Foundation for Integrated Transport for its game-changing support. Their funding has enabled us to strengthen our evidence, amplify our campaigns, and achieve even greater impact.

And thank you to everyone who has supported our work. This recognition belongs to all of us. πŸ’š

πŸš† Good news for international rail!

We're pleased to see Virgin Trains given the green light to run international services through the Channel Tunnel from 2030.

More international rail services could transform the way people travel between the UK and Europe. Our 2025 report, Runways to Railways: Unlocking the Potential of the Channel Tunnel, found that by introducing additional direct rail links, up to 29 million people a year could be travelling between the UK and Europe by rail by 2040. That's 2.5 times more than today, helping to boost economic growth across the UK while providing a practical and popular alternative to short-haul flights.

Additional services were just one of our recommendations to help unlock the full potential of international rail. Read the full report to discover what else needs to happen to make rail the easy choice for travelling to Europe.πŸš„πŸŒπŸ‘‡

πŸš—βš‘As more drivers switch to electric vehicles, the revenue raised through fuel duty will continue to fall. So how can the UK create a fair, effective replacement?

In our latest guest blog, Tim Wray from Kapsch explores what the UK's new Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) system can learn from countries already trialling pay-as-you-drive schemes, and how technology can balance fairness, privacy and simplicity.

It's great to see the impact of free bus travel for children. One operator says children's bus trips rose by 210%, a fantastic result.
This is a very welcome initiative but we also need to see a focus on increasing bus services to under-served areas.

A Lincoln bus firm says the number of children taking journeys has risen by more than 200%.

Popular, accessible and zero-emission, trams have the potential to transform local and regional transport networks. But while trams are a common sight in France, there are only nine tram networks in the UK. We've written this piece for TransportXtra:

Across the UK, cities are wrestling with familiar challenges: rising congestion, unreliable journeys, and the urgent need to cut emissions while supporting econ
