Today, people across the world will take part in Earth Day to mark the importance of environmental protection.

This year’s theme is ‘Our Power, Our Planet’, and is a call to everyone to unite around renewable energy so we can triple clean electricity generation by 2030.

This Earth Day you can take action by pledging to invest in clean, renewable energy with Community Energy Newham. Its second share offer opens soon!

Thanks to you and other investors, solar panels that are already generating clean electricity for three Newham schools will be brought into community ownership. The project will bring the school bills down, bring power to local people - not big energy corporations, and funnel surplus profits into the community. We think that certainly fits the bill of 'Our Power, Our Planet'!

Community energy is coming to Sutton! 📍☀

We've partnered with Bioregional and Power Up North London (PUNL) to support the formation of a new local group in Sutton. The response has been energising. ⚡

We'll be exploring next steps to establishing strong roots for the co-op, including roles and responsibilities, as well as rooftop solar opportunities.

☀️ We are developing a new renewables-led neighbourhood retrofit service. It is our new place-based and community-led initiative to put solar (and potentially batteries) on homes. We are currently delivering a series of workshops to collaboratively design this offering with residents in Newham.

In last week's workshop we worked with eleven 'Experts by Experience', who own their homes, rent privately, or rent out a property privately as a landlord. Together, participants began to map out a prospective customer journey.

Our community-centred approach puts people at the heart of building a more sustainable future. ☀️🔧
