As part of our summer activities programme, our primary-school-aged young carers visited Vauxhall City Farm

We had an excellent time meeting all of the amazing, friendly animals! πŸ“πŸˆβ€πŸ–πŸ¦™πŸπŸπŸŽ

Carers also had a chance to try out pond dipping, looking for tiny aquatic creatures.

Carers Allowance Consultation

The Government has recently launched a six-week call for evidence on Carer's Allowance.

We are encouraging carers to respond to the call for evidence, and share your experiences of Carer's Allowance and what needs to change. The Government is asking for views on:

-The Earnings Limit
-Benefit predictability for carers with fluctuating incomes
-Improving the interaction between Universal Credit and Carer's Allowance
-Studying limits
-Any other views and experiences of Carer's Allowance

Carers UK will be running a webinar for carers to support you in submitting a response and talk through the questions on Tuesday 21 July 4-5pm - sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/66d4thfu

The call for evidence will close on Tuesday 18 August 2026. To find out more or to take part, visit https://tinyurl.com/222whm5b

This call for evidence is being administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to gather information and views to build on the Department’s existing evidence. What we hear will help shape future thinking about how Carer’s Allowance can be modernised.

This month our Adult Carers visited Khadambi Asalache's house at 575 Wandsworth Road.

This incredible building was donated to the National Trust in 2010. Asalache, a Kenyan-born poet, novelist and British civil servant, bought the house in 1981 while working at the Treasury, and over a period of 20 years (from 1986) turned his home into a work of art.

It was wonderful to take our carers to see such a remarkable local attraction!

We were back at Garden Museum this weekend, getting our hands dirty with our youngest carers!

These 5 - 7 year olds explored natural sciences, identifying seed types under a microscope, before we headed off to explore the other garden-themed exhibits and rooms πŸ€πŸŒΏπŸŒ±πŸŒ²πŸŒ·

Our partners at Create charity joined our Primary School aged Young Carers Club to mindfully draw pictures featuring the things that are most important and joyful to them.

We had a range of hobbies and themes, from slime, to sports, to love and friendship. It was great to get creative and focus on the positive things in life πŸ˜ŠπŸ–οΈβœοΈπŸ’™

We've been really enjoying these weekly sessions with our younger carers!

We took our 12-16 year old young carers' Homework Club to the Royal Courts of Justice πŸ‘©β€βš–οΈβ€πŸ“‘βš–οΈ

We got to participate in a mock trial, even donning gowns and wigs. We are so proud of how hard our young carers worked and the brilliant arguments they made!

Last month, our Young Carers took advantage of the warm weather and came along to a pizza picnic at the park! πŸ•πŸžπŸŽ―

We ate food , played games, and caught up about what's going on in their lives. These sessions are especially good because it lets teenage carers meet others in a similar position, finding common ground and empathy.

Social Care Contribution Survey

Lambeth Council are seeking feedback from people who are considering using ASC, or those who are new to the service, or have not yet had a financial assessment.

They want to understand if the Social Care Contribution Estimator is helpful and user-friendly.

The Social Care Contribution Estimator helps people who may use ASC services, by giving them an estimation of their weekly contribution towards care before any service has begun.
