Do you love teaching music?

Do you believe that all young people should have the opportunity to learn and make music to inspire and enrich their lives?

Do you have the skills and resources to offer free taster lessons?

If your answer is an enthusiastic YES to all of these questions, we would love for you to join our Learn to Play event across the weekend of 8 - 11 October! 🎶

Getting involved with Learn to Play is a great opportunity to highlight your services to your local community and welcome new students. You could also tailor your event to offer tasters on minority instruments or instruments with lower uptake to generate interest.

Join this national initiative to enable more young people to experience the joys of music-making 🤝

At Cliffe Hill Primary School, music is becoming more accessible, inclusive and confidence-building for pupils across the school 🎶

The school, which includes both a nursery and an ASD provision, has successfully introduced pBuzz instruments and enrichment activities into its curriculum thanks to support from Music for All. The instruments have provided an engaging and achievable alternative to more complex instruments such as recorders or guitars.
Staff have already seen a huge impact. The accessible nature of the pBuzz has helped spark joy, reduce musical anxiety and build confidence, all important steps in encouraging long-term musical engagement.

And this is only the beginning. Plans are already underway to expand pBuzz opportunities to SEND pupils in mainstream classes and through after-school clubs. Teachers have also begun CPD training, with a long-term vision to embed music-making into school life through regular performances and progression onto other brass instruments.

A brilliant example of how the right instruments and support can open up music for every child 💛

To celebrate 30 years of Music for All, we asked people to share their favourite memories from the charity's journey so far. Today, founding member Rob Castle reflects on some of the moments that have shaped Music for All over the past three decades.

“Perhaps the most rewarding part of a career in the music industry is seeing the amazing effect playing music can have on the lives of people of all ages, and especially young people. 30 years ago, we set up our industry charity Music for All to encourage and enable more people to play music. Some might remember the Launch at Madame Tussaud’s and various charity bike rides and other fundraising efforts, as well as ‘Learn To Play’ days. Since that start, the evidence has grown dramatically showing the enormous benefits that playing music can have.”

We love talking to people about our history and getting all these insights into how far Music for All has come over the years! We couldn’t do it without all of you. And to allow us to continue on our path, we rely on amazing individuals and organisations like you to support our charity. Demand for our support is increasing dramatically. That’s why our 30th birthday appeal is focused on raising the vital funds we need to reach our target by May 2027. Donate today!

This year, we’re excited to be supported by several UK music festivals 🎶

Festivals are such a powerful example of how music brings people together, creating joy, connection, community and unforgettable shared experiences. We’re so pleased that these festivals are helping celebrate and support our mission to improve access to music-making across the UK.

We’re delighted to be working with:festival

We’ll be sharing more about these partnerships over the coming months, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, if your festival, organisation or business would like to partner with Music for All, we’d love to hear from you - get in touch via email at [email protected] 💛

🎶 Making Music Accessible for Every Young Person 🎶

Thanks to financial support from Music for All, Arts Active Trust has been delivering inclusive music-making sessions for young people with learning disabilities and autism across South Wales.

Over one academic year, the project has delivered:
60 participatory music sessions
Across 3 Additional Learning Needs settings
Supporting 90 pupils and 9 teachers through creative learning and CPD opportunities

For many young people in specialist educational settings, music is often absent from the regular timetable due to limited time, resources and specialist expertise. This project is helping to change that, creating safe, creative spaces where pupils can explore instruments, build confidence, express emotions and connect socially through music.

The impact has gone far beyond music-making alone. Staff and carers have reported improvements in emotional wellbeing, social interaction, communication and language and fine motor skills and coordination.

Teachers have also highlighted how the workshops provide a flexible and supportive environment: “The workshops are always a safe space for the pupils to take part or just listen, depending on how they may feel on that day.”
