We’re counting down to the West Sussex Primary and SEND Music Conference taking place in Haywards Heath in July and have some incredible speakers coming to inform and delight.

The conference is taking place on Thursday 9 July at Haywards Heath College and is open to all professionals working with children and young people – with those working in Sussex maintained schools (local authority or academy) entitled to free spaces.

All set for the Sussex Secondary Music Conference, a collaboration between University of Sussex and the Sussex Music Hub (incorporating Create Music and West Sussex Music)

Two young people will be able to access music opportunities through West Sussex Music thanks to a generous donation from (TASH).

The donation will fund two students through West Sussex Music’s bursary scheme which helps to remove financial barriers and ensures that more young people can take part in music-making, regardless of their circumstances.

The Arts Society Horsham, which promotes engagement with the arts through its programme of lectures, visits and community initiatives, awarded the funding after learning about the impact of West Sussex Music’s work from one of its members.

Come and join West Sussex Youth Choir on 23 and 24 July for inspirational singing workshops in the beautiful surroundings of Slindon College, culminating in a public concert at St Mary’s Church, Storrington.

The course is open to anyone who loves singing aged 13–21 (school Yr9 upwards from Sept 2026) who may be interested in taking part and will cost £85 – with free and subsidised places for families on low income. No experience is needed.

Southbourne Junior School hosted the event, with Bosham Primary School, Chidham Parochial Primary School, Portfield Community Primary School and Westbourne Primary School all taking part, led by the wonderful Emily Barden.

We’ve collaborated with young people to design some inspirational music-making opportunities during the school holidays, and lunch is included!

Taking place between 23 and 29 July at Bognor Regis, Crawley and Worthing we have opportunities to explore Rap, Music Production, and Play In A Band!

All skill levels are welcome, and equipment will be provided.

KS2 Big Sings is back on the road!

We've visited Billingshurst, Shoreham, The Witterings and Worthing this week, enjoying performances from Handcross Primary School, Herons Dale Primary School, East Wittering Primary School, Bilingshurst Primary Academy, and Homefield Primary School.

Over the next couple of weeks we'll be at London Meed Community Primary School, St Margaret’s CE Primary School, The Oaks Primary School, Crawley Down Village CE Primary School, Greenway Junior School, The Academy, Selsey and Southbourne Junior School.

Big Sing is our KS2 singing offer, bringing together multiple schools at a host school for a half-day singing workshop, led by one of our specialist singing leaders.
