Horsham Community Responders We are volunteers for the ambulance service who provide immediate care to those in their community w

CFR's are volunteers who provide immediate care to those in their community who have fallen ill. The CFR's are dispatched by the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb). CFR's are trained to attend emergency calls received by the Ambulance Service, and give life-saving care in the minutes up to when the ambulance arrives. Training is provided by the Ambulance Service and covers Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The aim of the group is to provide a service 24 hours a day 365 days of the year.

This morning as we prepare for the Restart the Heart day (Friday 16th). Team member Marc visited Crawley & Horsham Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club to deliver a session and refresher on how to deliver CPR, use an AED and promote the 'Bra Off Defib On' message to help increase female survival rates due to cardiac arrest.
The session was well received by the group and vital skills learned.
Marc did say that he had to be on his best behaviour as one of his former ‘OC's' (Officer Commanding) was in the room.

The team will be at Horsham Brewery Company this coming Thursday from 3pm to help promote the 'Restart the Heart' week.
Please feel free to pop in, where we can demonstrate CPR, how to use a Defibrillator and discuss how our new Public access Bleed Kits work.

After donating a Defibrillator to St Leonard's Church Horsham the team delivered an AED awareness session to both members of the congregation and the local community. This was well received, with lots of questions asked.

The charity have installed a Life Threatening Bleeds kit into their established Public Access Defibrillation site (Telephone Box) at the corner of Denne Road & East Street.
We will announce soon how to access the equipment and when we will run some familiarisation training.

Team member Gary Marlow has been supporting South east Coast Ambulance through his company Woods For Learning and has received a certificate of appreciation from SECAmb manager Steve Babonau.

“We have been using a woodland area run by Gary Marlow from Woods for Learning in Horsham for a number of months, so huge thanks to him,” said Steve, who presented Gary with a Certificate of Appreciation from the training team.
“We’re also very grateful to everyone who has played a part and helped make our training so effective.
“That includes Surrey Casualty Union Branch for supplying live play actors, our Community First Responders who played live casualties and supplied a refreshment vehicle and Horsham Rugby Club for use of part of their car park.”
