Vis-Ability centres accessibility and inclusion at the heart of innovation, employment, and public life. This years annual gathering is bringing leaders from business, politics, academia, and the blind/vision-impaired community together to collaborate on real actions for accessibility and vision loss. This year, we’re weaving health into the conversation showing how healthcare and wellbeing shape, and are influenced by, inclusion.

Did you know that Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide? Cataracts occur when the lens, the small transparent tissue inside the eye, scatters light. This makes the eye appear cloudy or milky to others, and prevents you from seeing clearly or even at all. Learn more about Cataracts here: https://ow.ly/llmH50Z7x6B

Summer is just around the corner, offering ideal opportunities for socialising on walks and hikes across the UK. Yet for some, this season can amplify loneliness. Our Outside report shows that loneliness and isolation affect many people who are blind or vision impaired, underscoring the need for inclusive initiatives that bring people together and build confidence. Braille is the six-dot tactile system that many blind and vision impaired people use to read and write, however there are very little courses to actually learn it. This is why we’ve supported the Braillist Foundation, who not only offer regular sessions and discussions on Braille, but an entire “Braille Beginners Course”. Read more about the Braillists’ Foundation, and how they’re supporting blind and vision impaired people in accessing Braille here: https://ow.ly/JCtm50Z05Y0
