Providence Row supports our clients through a huge array of health interventions and opportunities, but the support doesn't stop there. We are now in an Amber heat activation until 9pm on Friday 14th. This means that the Drop-In will be open until 4pm each day and we’re taking extended measures to support our clients and their pets such as:

- Bottles of water, juice and electrolytes available all day.
- Numerous safe, shaded and cool spaces to rest.
- Sunscreen provision and information.
- Conducting enhanced welfare checks and talking about the risks of hot weather – heat stroke and exhaustion, including what the signs are.
- Providing safe space, water and welfare checks for animals and pets on the street – keeping paws off of hot pavements.

🌟 Looking for a meaningful way for your team to give back? 🌟

At Providence Row, corporate volunteers play a central role in helping us create a welcoming, supportive environment for people experiencing homelessness in East London.

This month, we'd like to extend a huge thank you to the fantastic teams from and , who joined us to support our work. Whether helping to improve our spaces or assisting with practical tasks across our day centre, their time, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved made a real difference to our clients.
Corporate volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to bring colleagues together and learn about how to directly support their local community, developing new perspectives and relationships in the process. From preparing meals and maintaining our rooftop garden to hands-on refurbishment projects, our corporate volunteering opportunities allow teams to see the impact of their contributions first-hand.

Every volunteering session helps us provide a safe, welcoming space for people rebuilding their lives, while giving teams a rewarding experience that strengthens connections and creates lasting memories.
If your organisation is looking for a meaningful and engaging way to support your local community, we'd love to hear from you. There are a variety of opportunities available throughout the year, with options to suit different team sizes and interests.

It is becoming harder to ignore the danger of extreme heat in our City. Last year in the UK, over 1500 people lost their lives due to the extreme heat, countless more requiring medical care.

While traditional challenges supporting our clients in extreme weather have focussed on the cold – it’s not hard to feel how summer brings unique and extreme dangers.
Now is the time to learn more, support us in keeping our clients safe and make an impact in protecting lives in the City.

From new beds built and being filled to our greenhouse nursery turning out stalks and flowers every day, we’re excited to see the Garden grow and change with the seasons while remaining a constant oasis in the bustling City.

There’s a huge range of ways to support our Garden and the clients who benefit from it, find out more at www.providencerow.org.uk

Heard enough about football this summer? We haven’t..!

Last Friday, we welcomed 14 fantastic businesses from across the City for the inaugural The Mile Between Us Cup in partnership with Eastern City BID. A huge thank you to the Eastern City BID team for believing in the event and partnering with us to turn it into a brilliant tournament. Thank you also to the team at Powerleague Shoreditch for their work organising and running the day with enthusiasm, helping contribute to a competitive and enjoyable atmosphere for all of the 140+ players and supporters.

There were outstanding goals, brilliant saves, dramatic penalty shootouts and everything was played in exactly the right spirit. But, most importantly, together we've already raised more than £7,000 towards our £10,000 target, helping fund Providence Row's Food Programme, which provides more than 11,000 meals every year to people experiencing homelessness across East London and the City.

A huge thank you to our teams: Novotel London Tower Bridge, Beazley, Commerzbank AG, London Branch, Fallow Restaurant | Certified B Corp, Gallagher, Generali, Double Tree By Hilton, McLarens, Overbury,Rostrum, Spreckley, YouView TV Limited and Natixis Investment Managers.

To help us reach our target, please donate here: https://lnkd.in/eq4SHKQf

See you next year – until then, we’ll keep the trophy safe!

We welcome the new Prime Minister’s ambition to end rough sleeping.

For the thousands of people currently sleeping on our streets, this is not just a policy commitment – it is a recognition that everyone deserves a safe place to call home, the chance to recover from trauma, and the opportunity to rebuild their life with dignity.

At Providence Row, we see every day that rough sleeping is rarely a single issue. It is often linked to poor mental health, trauma, poverty, addiction, relationship breakdown and a lack of affordable housing. Ending rough sleeping will require long-term investment in prevention, housing, health support and the specialist services that help people move forward.

We stand ready to work with government, local authorities, partners and communities to help turn this ambition into lasting change. With the right support, people can and do move beyond homelessness.

Today’s commitment gives reason for hope. We look forward to seeing the action that follows, and to continuing our work alongside people affected by homelessness – ensuring that no one is left invisible, and that every person is treated with the dignity, compassion and support they deserve.

We will continue listening to the experiences of people affected by homelessness and sharing what is needed to help make the ambition of ending rough sleeping a reality.

🌿 Celebrating Volunteers’ Week at our Volunteers’ Celebration Garden Party 🌿

Last week, we were delighted to bring together our community and corporate volunteers for a belated Volunteers' Week celebration at Providence Row. We wanted to take a moment to recognise and thank the incredible people who give their time and effort to support our work throughout the year.

Set against the backdrop of our newly refurbished rooftop garden, the afternoon was filled with great food from BM Caterers, a fun scavenger hunt, games, and plenty of opportunities to connect our volunteers and supporters alike. Speeches from staff and trustees offered a chance to express our gratitude and celebrate the dedication and community spirit of everyone who volunteers with us. It was a fantastic reminder of the power of volunteering to bring people together and strengthen our community.

A particularly meaningful moment of the day was celebrating Simon Bartley, our former Chair and Trustee, with a plaque unveiled by our trustee Elizabeth Canning. This plaque serves as a lasting tribute to Simon's dedication, leadership and unwavering support of Providence Row over many years.

We once again would like to thank every volunteer who has contributed to Providence Row. Every minute of their time has made a tangible difference to our clients, our spaces, and our overarching commitment to helping create long-term pathways out of homelessness.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special. We are incredibly grateful for all that our volunteers do, and we're proud to celebrate the community we've built together. 💚

🚴‍♂️ From Mont Ventoux to the Brighton Seafront… could you be next?

We’re still feeling inspired by the incredible efforts of the Natixis team, who recently took on an annual charity cycling challenge in Provence in support of Providence Row. Over two days, they tackled the legendary Mont Ventoux — one of cycling’s most iconic climbs — with determination, resilience, and true team spirit.

Day one saw the team cycle around the mountain, building momentum for the ultimate test on day two: the ascent itself. Every rider pushed themselves to their limits, and the sense of achievement at the finish line was nothing short of extraordinary.
Together, the team achieved an incredible milestone — taking on 137km and 4,400m of elevation — a true testament to what can be achieved when people come together for a shared cause. A huge thank you to everyone involved for their commitment, energy, and support throughout the challenge.
💭 Inspired?

While Mont Ventoux is no small challenge, you don’t need to climb a mountain to make a difference. Our London to Brighton Cycle Ride is your chance to take on a personal challenge, push your limits, and support people experiencing homelessness.

📅 Don’t miss out — registration closes on 8th August.
📩 To register your interest, get in touch at [email protected]

Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or taking on your first long-distance ride, every mile you cycle helps us provide vital services, including meals, support, and pathways out of homelessness.
