As part of Peace Festival Week in Australia, we were honored to collaborate with the R2P Student Coalition for a meaningful event(The Forgotten Voices of Yazidis) at the The University of Queensland combining dialogue and immersive storytelling.
Thikran Mato joined as a speaker in a panel discussion alongside Jeffrey Sizemore , Melissa Curley , and Winnifred Louis , where conversations focused on raising awareness, prevention, and the role of Nobody’s Listening in amplifying survivors’ stories and advancing justice and accountability.
Participants also engaged with the Nobody’s listening award-winning VR experience presented by a group of volunteers from the Yazidi community in Toowoomba. Through this immersive journey, audiences were able to connect more deeply with the lived realities of Yazidi survivors.
By bringing together storytelling, technology, and dialogue, we continue working to ensure that these voices are not only heard but felt, remembered, and acted upon.

As part of our ongoing efforts to give voice to victims and promote a culture of memory and responsibility, the Nobody’s Listening team participated in an event organized by the Foreign and Security Policy Group at the .regensburg , where delivered an open session with a group of academics and students, including political science students and others.

The session included a presentation of the Nobody’s Listening VR experience, which received highly engaged responses from the audience, helping to convey the victims’ suffering in a direct and human way, with participants expressing their clear solidarity with the survivors of the Yazidi genocide.
During the discussion, attention was drawn to the Yazidi genocide, the importance of first-hand testimony in combating oblivion and pursuing justice, as well as highlighting the issues and suffering of other minorities, and the importance of addressing these matters at this critical time, given the ongoing and clear threats to the existence and rights of minorities in Irak, Syria and other regions.

It was also emphasized that education and awareness-raising form a core part of Nobody’s Listening’s work in confronting hate speech and preventing the recurrence of such crimes in the future.
This participation reflects Nobody’s Listening’s commitment to continue raising awareness, building bridges with academic institutions and the international community, and defending the rights of victims without exception.

Thank you to the university of Regensburg for this opportunity and special thanks to and for organising this event.

We had the privilege of meeting writer and journalist in Berlin and sharing with her our VR experience on the Yazidi genocide.

We discussed bringing the VR exhibition to theaters in Berlin, as well as to schools and universities, and expanding the project across Germany especially in Berlin because of its importance in raising awareness, educating communities, and standing against persecution, hatred, and violence targeting Yazidis and other minorities.

Ronya also emphasized how important this project is for integration, and how such educational initiatives can strengthen understanding and coexistence within society.

We look forward to meaningful cooperation to ensure these crimes are recognized and never repeated.
