📖 CPA is excited to announce that we have had a second manuscript selected for publication in the Antibiotics journal!

🇳🇵 ‘Antimicrobial Use and Prescribing Patterns in Three Nepalese Hospitals: Findings from the 2022 Global-PPS’ analyses point prevalence survey data collected through CPA’s programme work in Nepal, identifying trends in antibiotic use and opportunities for AMS interventions.

📈 Having another paper published in Antibiotics recognises the efforts of CPA’s programmes team in robustly analysing data to guide evidence-based interventions. In low-resource settings, GPPS data contributes to the national evidence base needed to support the establishment of AMS initiatives, and regular surveillance helps policymakers monitor prescribing trends, identify priority areas, and evaluate interventions over time.

🎓 The publication of our work in a top-tier journal like this marks a significant milestone for CPA and the legacy of UK-ALF-A, as well as a great opportunity to raise awareness of our work and share our insights about the future of pharmacist leadership in AMS.

💡 The potential of pharmacists to contribute to multidisciplinary teams is enormous, but often untapped: to truly harness the power of pharmacists in building strong health systems, they require greater recognition, representation in decision-making bodies, and relevant training opportunities. In particular, we must invest in developing their leadership skills as well as their technical expertise.

🌱 The UK-ALF-A Fellowship is an example of how – with health leadership development, bidirectional learning, structured mentorship, and the opportunity to apply new skills in practice – pharmacists can be empowered to lead impactful interventions to tackle AMR in their communities.
