It's , and we're ready for - are you?

Every year on June 16th, CPA marks Commonwealth Pharmacists Day - the anniversary of our founding by the national pharmacy associations of the Commonwealth in 1969, and also by happy accident the birthday of our inaugural President, Albert Howells.

Around the world, young pharmacists are acting as leaders at the local, national and global levels, championing the needs of patients, communities and their fellow healthcare workers. They are the future of our profession, but many also embody the profession at its best today.

That's why this year's theme is GENERATION CHANGE, celebrating the transformative impact that young and early career professionals are having for patients and pharmacy across the Commonwealth - living examples of how empowering and equipping pharmacists as health leaders can pay huge dividends for health systems.

Throughout the day on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, we're going to be highlighting the stories of more than a dozen incredible young CPA members who are trailblazers in their fields. It's our mission to empower pharmacists to improve health and wellbeing across the Commonwealth, and these early career professionals are at the cutting edge of that mission.

Check out the link in our bio to find our campaign hub, including information on everyone we'll be featuring today and how you can take part.

Wherever you are in the Commonwealth or beyond, we wish you a very happy Commonwealth Pharmacists Day, and invite you to join us in celebrating GENERATION CHANGE.

๐Ÿšญ Today marks World No To***co Day.

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ Last week, at the World Health Assembly, representatives from CPA members, the Malaysian Pharmacists Society, gave a presentation to ministers and other health policy leaders on their work to promote to***co cessation in communities and to take successful legal action to end loopholes that allow to***co-based v**e products to escape tighter regulation.

๐Ÿ“ฃ An estimated 40 million 13-15-year-olds worldwide use to***co, with adolescents nine times more likely than adults to use v**e products. This World No To***co Day, we join the Health Organization in calling on policymakers to 'Unmask the Appeal', and take firmer action against the to***co and ni****ne industries to prevent young people from being drawn into a cycle of addiction.

๐Ÿง‘โ€โš•๏ธ On the morning of the 79th World Health Assembly yesterday, we were delighted to host a breakfast event on 'Advancing Self-Care for Universal Health Coverage: The Key Role of Health Care Professionals'!

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Hosted alongside The Commonwealth, the Global Self-Care Federation and the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation, the session brought together policymakers, health leaders, and professional associations to discuss the often-underutilised potential of health workers as enablers of prevention and self-care, with a particular focus on cancer care.

๐ŸŽค We were delighted to be joined by the likes of Dame Sally Davies (UK Special Envoy on AMR), Sibusiso Sibandze (Director of Operations & Int'l Development at the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community), H.E. Toyin Saraki (Founder-President of The Wellbeing Foundation Africa) & Prof. Maria Pilar Astier Pena (President-Elect of the World Organization of Family Doctors), as well as delegates from health ministries across the world.

๐Ÿ™ Thank you to Haleon and Kenvue for sponsoring the event, and to all who attended for their valuable participation in our discussion!
