🎬🎭📚 5.15pm Q***r Stories, Q***r Storytelling
We’re so lucky to have Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor (award-winning producer of Blue Story and writer-director of film Dreamers) and Chris Bush (Olivier award-winning playwright of Standing on the Sky’s Edge and Otherland) in conversation on their work, and how we tell our stories. Hosted by Ekin Oklap (Booker shortlisted translator and author of First Summer).

🍕🍷 6.15pm Pizza (courtesy of our friends at Giovanna’s) and drinks (thanks to Pretty Decent).

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ 6.45pm Keynote: Why Pride Matters More than Ever
We are thrilled to be hosting Forest Gate Pride 2026’s keynote speech from Robin Moira White. Robin was the first barrister to transition from male to female in practice at the employment and discrimination bar in 2011, she has appeared in some ground-breaking and law-making trans cases and is joint author of the only specialist legal text in the area, A Practical Guide to Transgender Law.

All followed by casual drinks @ the Forest Tavern from 8pm. See you there!

🌈 26 - Friday night @ The Gate Library. We’ve got an amazing panel at 5.15pm, a break for drinks and pizza at 6.15pm and our keynote speaker at 6.45pm. All followed by casual drinks @ the Forest Tavern at 8pm. Stay tuned for further announcements, we’re so excited to tell you more!

🌞 27 Saturday @ Woodgrange Market. We’ll be there from 10am-4pm with stalls and entertainment celebrating q***rness and wellness... Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements!

🌸 28 Sunday @ The Forest Gate Community Garden. We’ll be toasting their 10 Year Anniversary with a Q***r Garden Hangout - from 1-3pm. Think relaxed adult and child friendly activities. Q***r story-telling, exciting materials on q***r ecology and an opportunity to meet q***r neighbours.

Hello, HELLO! It’s that time once again, for you to join us at KICK DOWN THE CLOSET our monthly LGBTQIA+ DJ night at the Forest Tavern. Come along to meet some lovely people and dance the night away.
Hosted by Forest Gate Pride, and with DJ Drama Queen on the decks, Kick Down the Closet is the best way to get your heart pumping, your feet tapping and to meet local q***rs and allies.

May’s Kick Down the Closet is the last one before Forest Gate Pride itself (last weekend in June, clear your calendars!), and it’s sure to be a good one – think Abba, Kylie, Chappell Roan, Diana Ross and Tatu.

As always, it’s a free night, and everyone is welcome!

We’re thrilled to be hosting the grand finale event for Newham LGBTQ+ History month at Kick Down The Closet on Friday night!

Come along to enjoy dancing, extracts from the hit play, The Le****ns of Forest Gate, a set from the extraordinary – founder and curator of and
Wrapping up the night will be spinning your favourite tunes.

Chuck on some sparkle, get your dancing shoes on, and we’ll see you at for this special Friday edition of KDTC running until the extra late hour of 1am.
