Help Feed

Help Feed HELPFEED IS A GLOBAL STRUGGLE AGAINST HUNGER & MALNUTRITION. It’s not really difficult to think about water and food in today’s world.

In the World that we live in, we hang onto the most precious of things. There is much talk of shortages, no rain, no resources to grow food and of course plenty of people who simply are not ‘bothered’. But forget about us…

The majority of us have never been really thirsty or hungry. We never had to leave our houses and walk tens of miles in search of water or scrounge for food. We simply turn on

the tap and the water comes out CLEAN or we are too spoilt for choice in selecting something to eat. Yet there are billions of people who don’t have access to clean water or food. There are almost 7 billion people in the world and it is really difficult to imagine sometimes how that looks like, however one in four live in abject poverty. There is a 1 in 7 chance that a person will be born hungry. More than 400 million people have no access to safe water. One in eight people in our world don’t have access to the most basic of human needs. Just put yourself into the shoes of one of those few billion people. They are very real, imagine following them on their daily journey. Carry water in yellow fuel cans, line up at a food camp and wait more than eight hours for a turn and to know that there is no food available. You can make a difference, we’re not offering the solution however instead simple things that work. Things like clean water facilities and sustainable means to grow food. For simply £3 a month, thats just 10p a day, we know to how HELP millions.

On Friday 31st May approximately 50 students from Minhaj School of Islamic Sciences (MSIS), as well as some 30 volunteers including teaching staff and parents, teamed up with Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) to conduct a sponsored charity walk for the HelpFeed project. Children from MSIS (London) and a group of volunteers trekked 2.8 miles to raise awareness of Global poverty. The walk started at the East Ham Station, passing through Barking Rd, Green St and ending at the Minhaj-ul-Quran Mosque on Romford Rd. Children as young as 5 years old walked the entire distance holding placards reading ‘End Poverty Now’ and ‘Join Us’. The children raised a substantial amount of money which will help provide clean water for more than 800 families around the world to meet basic and essential needs.
