9:38 Stories - We'd Love to Hear Them!

For nearly a year, many of us have been pausing at 9:38 every day to pray Jesus' words from Matthew 9:38:

"Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

As we look back, we'd love to hear your 9:38 stories. How has God answered prayer? Have you seen someone respond to God's call? Have you witnessed new opportunities for mission, ministry, or discipleship? Has God spoken to you personally through this daily rhythm of prayer?

The Candidates Unit would love to collect and celebrate these stories of God's faithfulness and leading.

Please send your story to [email protected].

Let's encourage one another by sharing what God has been doing as we've faithfully prayed together. 🙏🌾

How is God calling us to follow and serve?

If you’re planning teaching around calling and vocation, why not take a look at 'Called to Be', a five-part preaching series exploring the story of Peter?

Across the series, we see Peter’s character shaped by his encounters with Jesus, from receiving the call to follow to becoming someone who calls others to follow too.

Although originally produced for Candidates Sunday 2026, the material is designed to be easily adapted for use whenever your church is exploring God’s call.

We’ve spent the weekend with this fantastic group of people who are seeking the next steps in their faith journey. Praying for them as they return home and continue to live out their faith in their every day lives

Let’s continue to pray for the new session of cadets. They are an answer to prayer! 🙏

Each of the Rescued session have said ‘yes’ to God’s call to officership and taken the next step in their faith journey. What’s your next step?

The Salvation Army is a church, and our ministers, known as officers, dedicate their lives to serving God and others.

Before being ordained and commissioned, Salvation Army officers train as cadets. This is a time of study, mentoring and hands-on experience, equipping them for a lifetime of faith and service that can include leading local churches and community projects for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

This week, we're welcoming a new cohort of cadets – known as a session – as they begin this important journey. Join us in praying for Salvation Army cadets across the United Kingdom and Ireland Territory. 🙏

More people around the territory are hearing the ‘9:38’ call.

It’s an invitation to pause for prayer at 9:38 every day to ask the Lord to send workers into the harvest fields (Matthew 9:38).

A group of people will gather this weekend to explore God’s call on their life and where it might take them in terms of leadership within The Salvation Army. We give thanks that God is answering our 9:38 prayers.

Lord, as people gather for Design for Life, speak to these workers who are offering themselves in your harvest fields, and show them what fullness of life in your service might look like for them.

🙏 Prayer offered by Lyndall Bywater, UKI Boiler Room Team. Join in united prayer across the territory at https://www.salvationist.org.uk/resources/discipleship/prayer-matters

Design for Life begins today!

We’re so encouraged to be fully booked for this weekend as people set aside time to explore God’s calling on their lives.

Would you join us in prayer?

Pray that each person attending would be open to the voice of God, attentive to His leading and ready to respond in faith and obedience.

May this be a weekend in which people hear clearly, encounter God deeply and take their next step with Him.

We're joining in praying for all those young people and young adults who will be attending Summer Camps this summer. We know that these can be significant weeks of transformation, hearing God's voice and decision made.
Come Lord Jesus, we pray!
