IMAGEN researchers and academics are investigating biological and environmental factors that may have an influence on the mental health of young adults.

The science of genetics is developing faster than ever and the IMAGEN study is at the front line of this revolution. We not only study the genetic information of hundreds of young people, we also know a huge amount about their lives, from their personality and behaviour to how their brains process information through the use of neuroimaging. This way our scientists are in an excellent position to

study how lifestyle and genes work together; pinpointing ways in which people can avoid mental health problems. A total of 2000 18-19 year olds and their parents are included in this multi-centre study in the UK, Germany, France and Ireland.
