We are grateful to the Randal Foundation for a £50,000 grant to strengthen the Sarcoma UK Support Line and wider support for people affected by sarcoma.

The donation is being made through the Dave Thompson Fund, honouring the contribution of our former trustee Dave and the continued commitment of his family. The funding will help our specialist team provide timely, trusted information and support to people affected by sarcoma.

At this year’s Shining Star Awards, we will take a special moment to remember and honour the loved ones we have lost over the past year, and to celebrate the lives and memories that continue to inspire the sarcoma community.

As part of the evening, we are creating a tribute video to remember them with the love, dignity and respect they deserve.

The video will also be shared on Sarcoma UK’s social media channels, so please only submit a photograph if you are happy for it to be shared publicly.

A huge thank you to Stevie and everyone who came together for a very special Rare but Real Walk in memory of David 💙

70 people, and one dog, joined the 5km walk through Bishop Auckland, a place David loved, to celebrate his life and help raise awareness of sarcoma.

Together, they’ve raised more than £1,500 for Sarcoma UK. Thank you to Stevie and everyone who walked, donated and helped make the day so special.

We’re immensely grateful to the London Sarcoma Service team, who went the extra mile for Sarcoma Awareness Month 💙

33 colleagues from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and UCLH - University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust set themselves the challenge to cover the equivalent distance of travelling from London to every specialist bone sarcoma centre in the UK

After beating their original target in just one week, they kept going, eventually covering a fantastic 1,106 miles by walking, running, cycling, swimming, dancing, playing sport and even white-water rafting and ziplining!

A massive thank you to everyone at the London Sarcoma Service for finding such a creative way to get people talking about sarcoma. 👏

NHS sarcoma team's 1,100-mile challenge helps to raise awareness of rare cancer.

A huge thank you to Mia Sage, who has shaved her head in memory of her best friend, Aaliyah 💙

Aaliyah died from Ewing sarcoma in July 2024, aged just 20. Determined to honour her life and make a difference in her name, Mia took on this challenge during Sarcoma Awareness Month.

Mia donated her hair to help provide wigs for children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment, something especially meaningful after seeing how much wearing a wig helped Aaliyah regain confidence and a sense of normality during her own treatment.

As well as raising vital funds for Sarcoma UK and The Little Princess Trust through her head shave, Mia has also been selling her own artwork to support Sarcoma UK and continue Aaliyah’s legacy through creativity.

Thank you, Mia, for everything you’re doing in Aaliyah’s memory.

Following feedback from the community, we’re exploring the launch of a virtual desmoid support group, and we want those it could support to help shape it.

Andrew Scott knew something was wrong when persistent hip pain left him barely able to walk. But at 29, he was told he was not a priority for scans.

After months without answers, Andrew paid to see a private orthopaedic surgeon. A scan revealed a tumour, and he was diagnosed with an exceptionally rare sarcoma.

Despite everything he has faced, Andrew has inspirationally turned his experience into action. In June, he completed a 10km Rare But Real walk in Glasgow on crutches, alongside ten friends, raising more than £4,000 for Sarcoma UK.
