Around 1 in 3 children are separated from their brothers and sisters when they first go into care, often losing contact. These decisions are made based on what works for the system rather than what’s best for the young person.

Matt Blow, our Policy and Public Affairs Manager, spoke to BBC News on how the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act becoming law is a step forward in tackling this issue, but more still needs to be done.

All children need the same things to thrive: a stable home and strong connections to the people and places that matter to them. But too often, children in care don’t get this.

That’s why we’re pleased to see the Government’s focus on loving relationships. We now need a national strategy to give every child the right home in the right place.

The care system is in crisis.

We worked with Financial Times on their report looking into how profiteering in the care system is impacting vulnerable young people.

Every child and young person needs support, stability and love. But right now, this isn’t happening for children in care. Together, we're fighting to make change happen

Young people shouldn’t leave care before they feel ready, and they should have the support every young person needs to thrive. But that’s not what’s happening right now.

Clair, a Personal Adviser in Northamptonshire, has started her own petition to push for change. Like our campaign, it calls for support for care leavers every step of the way.

Together, we can change the care system for good. Sign Clair's petition: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/761524

Chereece, a care-experienced young person we work with, shares her experience of being moved into illegal, unregistered children’s homes on BBC Radio Today.

Her story is yet another reminder: the care system is failing - and it's children and young people paying the price.

We’re calling for urgent reform.

Right now, we have young people calling our Care Advice Service who are in severe crisis. Many are facing housing insecurity or homelessness.

We're here to listen and support them, but we need your help to continue being there for every care-experienced young person.

A monthly gift is one of the most powerful ways you can help us be there whenever young people need us, not just in moments of crisis.

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme, Action, reminds us that support shouldn’t stop when it’s needed most.

Too many young people are expected to leave care before they feel ready, facing a 'care cliff' when they turn 18. This can affect their mental health and leave them at risk of homelessness. Zara was able to stay with her foster carers, showing the difference stability and the right support can make.

And it's why we’ve been calling on the Government to since 2020.
We need action. We need change.
